E3 2005: PS3 Official InfoMay 17, 2005 at 7:11 pm #66769Red DevilMemberLooks good. I’m definetly more likely to buy that than any of the other next gen consoles when they appear. Thats partially cos I don’t like the Xbox much though.
I’m a bit worried about the pad design though. I was quite happy with the old dual shock shape. The silver banana looks a little weird. I’d probably get used to it after a while though.
May 17, 2005 at 7:19 pm #66754Jeff HesterKeymasterI personally think it will be a powerful machine but it looks like a flatbed scanner, and the controller looks like a boomerang. I don’t really like the look but hey if it can create impressive looking and creative games that’s what matters.
May 17, 2005 at 10:33 pm #66762DavidParticipantHoly crap that is A LOT of memory bandwidth, this will produce some very, very impressive games.
May 17, 2005 at 11:18 pm #66776chikenkickerMemberi bet you this will kill xbox 360
May 17, 2005 at 11:46 pm #66755Jeff HesterKeymasterI don’t get it Dave. I see 256MB memory but then what does that system bandwith mean and that main ram?
May 18, 2005 at 1:49 am #66772colinMemberI hate the look of the controller, but if it feels good then the look doesn’t matter. Overall I really like the look of the console, really sleek. Also some pretty sweet specs, should be as good if not better than Xbox360 in some aspects. Only downside is that it comes out a year later than the 360.
May 18, 2005 at 1:54 am #66756Jeff HesterKeymasterWith the introduction of xbox all my other vid systems went out the window. Finally a game system that actually puts Amercians to work. Over 85 percent of the men and woman who work on Xbox games made by Micro xbox division are made by Amercians. Keep that in mind Miami and support a system that puts Americans to work. Xbox!!! One more thing Sonys game division based here in the USA, is nothing more than 800 number with less than 80 employees Nationwide.

To compare that to a personal computer, standard DDR ram is 3.2GB/s (or 6.4GB/s Dual-Channel). The more data the RAM can handle, the faster the system.

One more thing Sonys game division based here in the USA, is nothing more than 800 number with less than 80 employees Nationwide.so you’re basing your opinion of a video game system on where it’s based and who is employed there? you’re not basing your opinion of the system on the system itself? i’m failing to see any logic to that argument at all. if you had said that the quality is better cause it’s made in america, then that would be one thing. also remember that not all of our members here are from America – we have members from all over the world on this site…May 18, 2005 at 4:33 am #66768ys8er2323Memberis sony putting a Hard Drive in their system? or will there be memory cards ?
May 20, 2005 at 2:12 am #66773colinMemberI believe the hard drive is going to be optional. Someone please correct me if I am wrong though.
May 21, 2005 at 12:11 am #66766RabidKittenParticipantGuys…after one bout of frustration, I’ll snap that controller right in two *shakes her head sadly* I like my systems to be tough, so I don’t feel so bad when I toss the controller across the room screaming obscenities at the television. I mean, really, if you can’t beat on it a little, what’s the point?
… … that and it looks like a vibrator. *gah* And I’m tired of these shiek, slick little designs that look like they’re out of some bad “Demolision Man” -esque movie. It’s bad enough when I get something new that I’m sooo afraid of busting it and I walk on my toes around it for the first 6 months…but now I’m going to be actually afraid it’s going to eat me in my sleep.
But yeah, other than that, I’m good *smirk* Heheh…we’ll see what this bad boy can handle and hopefully I’ll be able to once more favor my pressious PS and stop using the blasphemy that is Xbox…I swear I need to take a shower after each time I use it. *shudder*
May 21, 2005 at 1:54 am #66777chikenkickerMemberxbox sucks, ps3 will destroy xbox 360 in my oppinion
