Ch-ch-ch-changes…
I don’t know why, but whenever we have some staff changes here at BigBlueBall, I get that David Bowie song “Changes” stuck in my head.
We have a number of changes to announce today, including an update to the organization structure, the retiring of a few staffers and an announcement about a special returning staffer.
First, the organization changes. My key goal was keeping the organization simple but effective. The biggest change is that I am resuming the role of Administrator. In addition, we will have Global Moderators and (eventually) Moderators.
Global Moderators have rights to close or move topics as needed in any forum on the site. Moderators are generally more junior, and will have similar capability, but may be restricted to specific forums.
Next, I want to extend a special thank-you to our retiring staffers. The following staff members have made a great contribution to the site over the past years, but for various reasons, the time has come for them to hang up their hat and move on. I appreciate their contributions, and wish them the very best! I hope you’ll join me in wishing them the best, and I suspect we’ll still seeing them around the forums from time-to-time as honored BigBlue Crew Alumni.
Retiring staffers include David, Spike, princeG, EvilSeph, RabidKitten, Lucifina, and Jon8RFC.
Finally, help me welcome a returning staffer: Sarahtowny. She was on the staff for quite a while, then took a break. Never “just a member” Sarah contributes regularly, especially in the Community Center — our “off topic” forums. Welcome back to the BigBlueCrew, Sarah!

I’m sure we can all still gain many benefits from their vast knowledge, even if they won’t be on staff any longer.
And a warm “welcome back” to Sarahtowny!!

February 16, 2008 at 11:01 pm #167154YahooliganMemberSorry to see David and Spike retire. Cheers to all the alumni. It’s a tough job running a forum.
And welcome back, sarahtowny!
February 16, 2008 at 11:01 pm #167148TigerbladeParticipantBack to the old moderator system, eh? I remember those days…
February 16, 2008 at 11:10 pm #167146GandalfMemberWelcome back, sarahtowny! And slightly offtopic, how does one become a moderator?
February 17, 2008 at 12:12 am #167150MrEggsaladParticipantHeh, that system reminds me so much of the old days…I loved those days…
Anyways, welcome back sarahtowny! Have fun on your…very extended breaks to you all who are retiring 😛
February 17, 2008 at 12:33 am #167147DavidParticipantI’ll be around even more now.
February 17, 2008 at 5:28 am #167153MrOatsMemberTo the retiring: Thank you for all you have done for BBB, and try to stop in and say hi every once in a while. (If you can). 😉
And welcome back to the BBB crew Sarah! 🙂
February 17, 2008 at 7:28 am #167156PhilipModeratorI would like to express my thanks to the retiring alumni. For every beginning there is an ending, but I’m sure we’ll still hear from these very talented people.
And a BIG welcome to Sarah! Now that you’re back we can create more mischief, lol.
February 17, 2008 at 11:06 am #167149sarahtownyMemberBest of luck to the retiring staff and thank you for all your good wishes.
It’s great to be back! :0)
February 17, 2008 at 12:00 pm #167151DermotParticipantGood luck to all retiring and returning staff 🙂
I’m sure you wont be really going far but will be good to hear from you all when you can.
Change can be good and somethings the opposite but i’m sure it will all work out in the end, what we not know, is what makes us thrive to find!
High five from me ladies and gents 😉
February 18, 2008 at 8:24 pm #167155PolarBearNPRParticipant:'( Retiring staff . . . we’re gonna miss you! But we’ll still see you around I’m sure as alumni connotes someone who has moved on but keeps the spirit of a place in their heart, venturing back every now and then for nostalgia if nothing else; but frequently to make things even better by significant contributions on occasion.
And sarahtowny . . . well, I know you weren’t officially on staff for a short while, but you’ve never really gone away so welcome back-ish to the staff-fold. I guess we’ll have to behave in the staff room now that you’ll be there watching :p
