Participant:crying: Nooooo . . . well, I guess you can hang your staff hat on the wardrobe, but don’t leave us completely! And while I totally understand your reasons and availability issues, know that your expertise is valued in any area you post in. Your insight into many issues is always spot on – and you’d better keep us updated on the international sporting events as well as the latest movies you’ve seen.
We’ll miss you, man.
But I’ll ttyl

ParticipantWhile the idea of meeting up at times is a interesting idea, it’s unlikely to work as it was tried before in the irc chatroom and the problem is time differences, as you know not all staff members are American and working times around each others time differences is work at best. IE: i’m writing this and 3/4 of you are in bed snoozing…
As for younger staff, i have to disagree..in my opinion the use of younger staff is what put us in the position we’re in to be honest, but then just my opinion as i’m 29.
As for the editor idea, i think it’s best to leave the news posting to the team leaders of whichever group but also make a editor role of someone who has a big interest in news casting or others.
I think a lot of the stickies should be converted into the FAQ’s
Staff members should be positive about what they tell users to edit or delete as i have seen some posts in this forum and others that direct users to start deleting from the registry which is not advised unless it’s a positive change.
As for layout i think the initial page could do with some eye catching images, not just links everywhere, we all know how the human eye catches images quicker than text. Perhaps a module with random user uploaded images or something along them lines.

ParticipantJust to clarify something, I put younger staff in quotation marks because I meant as the most recent added staff, not the youngest in age

When reading this, I can only wonder, why haven’t you done it yet? (Esp. in the Yahoo! Section) You have the power to do so and have the proper motive for doing so, so right on! It’s not the first time I read you mentioning this and it’s true.
(I’m not trying to sound like I’m calling you out, btw….. It’s just that you have a lot of Yahoo! knowledge, I think me and everyone else would trust your decision in doing that. ;))

MemberGeorge: I’m sad to hear you’re leaving…But I know you have your reasons. And do stick around BBB if you can! 😉

ParticipantReason “i” haven’t done it is because didn’t want to edit other staff’s posts without them knowing or at least mentioning it in the “staff room”
More of a “Do you think it would be a good idea?”
As for been called out, i’m not here to worry about been called out by anybody but to help those in need 🙂
George, i’m sure you do have your reasons and sad to see you go, being a pleasure!

KeymasterDermot, I think it’s a good idea, generally, but check the number of reads the sticky has first. If it has a LOT of reads, that means it’s probably also bringing in a lot of traffic from Google searches, and if we delete it (the URL no longer exists) that traffic might not find BBB.
What I might prefer is to go ahead and create the FAQ and incorporate the good stuff. Unsticky the original topics. You could even post a link in the “old” sticky to the new FAQ and then lock it, if you want.
That way, we don’t lose anyone who found that URL via a google search, and we can still direct them to the newer FAQ, and clean up the forums to make them easier to scan.
Sound good?

MemberHaving spoken to detn8r, I’m going to give the Administration the benefit of the doubt.
I’ll be posting a few suggestions soon and hope they will not be followed by broken promises like they tend to be.
I’ve seen a change in Jeff and am glad to see him active, “less busy” and able to change things on BBB again.
Just to make my issues clear:
- I feel as if staff and their opinions are undervalued and hope this will change in the near future.
- I’d like to see BBB change for the better and hope that those as of yet broken or un-fulfilled promises will be kept.
- I’d prefer it if the Administration would not half-heartedly ask for suggestions and never do anything about them. If you don’t want our opinions, don’t ask for them.
- I feel as if Jeff is inadvertently distancing himself from the staff and his position is somewhat intimidating, but this may just be me. Though Jeff is undoubtedly a great guy…it just doesn’t feel right bugging him with idle chatter. Jeff, you come off to me as being more of a “boss” than a fellow member of staff and I guess my respect for you prevents me from chatting to you as…well, bosses don’t like that, and I don’t like to bother the people I respect.
Overall, I feel as if this time around, BBB will change and change for the better but I guess we’ll see. Count me in.
On a more personal note…I’m really sorry for my inactivity..but there is nothing I could have done to prevent it. If anyone wishes to hold this against me, so be it. I’m not making excuses and I’m not one to joke about having issues in life.

We do have our own lives outside BBB after all. And thank you for your suggestions so far; hopefully at least some of them will be implemented.

ParticipantWarren – and everyone else here on this glorious staff . . . we all have things we go through, and this is one place we should never ever hold anything against each other or joke or do anything but support each other through whatever it is that’s taking our time from here. Real life is first . . . just know that we’re in this thing together and without the “group”, we are nothing. And even tho we have differences of opinion at times, differences of interests at times, and differences in availability . . . it is this conglomeration of personalities, talents and abilities that makes BBB what it is and secures it for what it will become.

KeymasterNessa;226685 wrote:I thought Seph was staying on staff? :confused:I made the decision to remove him from the staff after chatting with him a couple times over the past week. He hasn’t really participated much in the past six months and hasn’t shown an interest in contributing to the site.
I asked him to point out specific issues, and he still refuses to name one specific issue (just generally ones, like “broken promises”). His attitude is unwarranted from someone who really hasn’t done squat here at the site. He may very well be a bright guy, but his attitude is poisonous.
I’ve sent Warren a PM thanking him for his past contributions and wishing him the best, and I hope you’ll wish him well also.
