ParticipantI (ok, it was Detn8r, Nessa, and I) were talking about the pips, and had the idea of making them stars. Originally they were the shape they are for now because you could be neutral or have bad rep, however, now it shows your greatness. Stars represent good doing, so it just seems like a good idea.

ParticipantYes! The green pips have gotten a bit old and don’t stand out all that much to me. And yeah their color was for green=good and red=bad but now there is no bad! Only good. So having them be pretty looking stars would be nice (and yes i do go for prettiness) 🙂
Hope this suggestion is made a reality!
*Oh and +rep for Ryan for posting this!*

MemberI kind of like the star where it says you’re online 🙂

MemberOooooo…. Star Pips….. I want one!!!! Sounds like a good idea to me!

MemberWe’d have to make sure that they won’t be to big as to totally obscure your entire postbit layout, but I like the idea, so long as it looks clean. I’m all for it. (+rep, Ryan!)

ModeratorYeah, I agree with Spike and the others. Look forward to the stars (just don’t make them too big!)

ParticipantI think EvilSeph’s got a good point here, too. I like the star showing if someone’s online now so, there would need to be something different, IMHO, to highlight that. Although the pulsing star certainly gets your attention.

ParticipantHave the recognition “blocks” been squished together? I thought there was some white-space between them before. Or is it my eyes? They’ve been getting a real workout lately 😉 Doesn’t matter, but does leave room for more to be added as reputation levels soar around here.

MemberYes, the space was removed so that, like you said, there’s room for more. Good eye! 😉

ParticipantUsing stars sounds like a cool idea, it might get a little confusing having stars for reputation and for online indication though. Maybe have the online indicator be a globe instead? I dunno, just a thought.
I made the current reputation pips, so I had a go at making a star. Thoughts?

So it would look like this:

Participantfor what it’s worth, i like the current rectangular pips. just my two cents’ worth.

MemberHaha, Jeff, you really don’t remember doing it? Maybe something else triggered it, like an update or a mod or something you changed? Either way, it looks better this way by far.
As for the star, I think it looks good, but could be a little light (and certainly less noticeable, as it’s smaller and less bold). Maybe you could add a border or something around it to make it a bit more visible? Just a suggestion. 😉

ParticipantHow about no boarder and just a darker star?
.. Actually looking at the finished product, I think it looks perfect.
