As you might know Yahoo! limited status messsage length starting from today morning, from 255 chars to 40 chars.
The attached patch removes this limitation. Just unzip & run. It will automatically find yahoomessenger.exe and modify a single byte, which in turn will make Yahoo! Messenger ignore the new max_custom_status XML tag which is sent by the server staring from today… you will then be able to use the good’old 255 length statuses 🙂
Enjoy!
PS: for any security freaks: this patch will just scan yahoomessenger.exe for the string “max_custom_status” and modify its first letter… nothing more 🙂
It should work with ANY version of YM which has this builtin limitation.Update: for those who had problems with first version, the new one supports target file drag and drop and also looks for the file in a few more locations.

Hi, can you drop a mail to [email protected] (this is a real address) please. I want to talk to you about something.

-Doris-October 4, 2007 at 10:10 pm #164583codneimMemberThat is because it is the same patch (since that’s my site) 🙂
