Well, there is this problem with my AIM where it won’t load any subprofiles, and I cannot get any buddy icons from other sites (badassbuddy..)
on the subprofiles, it is always “error loading content” and on any icon site, whenever I click, nothing happens.
My guess for this would be that
A. My internet explorer preferences aren’t allowing AIM to access a site
B. My AIM preferences aren’t allowing The internet to open up inside AIM
i have tried
Uninstalling, and reinstalling AIM
Upgrading to 5.9
and re down grading to 5.2
No luck.
So can anyone help?

December 25, 2004 at 6:38 am #109779CantTouchThisMemberNo, this isn’t a new problem.
it is a reoccuring one, it has been doing this for about a couple of months..
December 26, 2004 at 2:52 am #109769aneagleParticipantIt turned out my sign-on problem is local, one of the nodes in the local ISP network got port 5190 blocked.
Try to get an icon from badassbuddy by using Internet Explorer, if you can’t get through check your IE setting and allow it to show images and animations. Check Expressions in your AIM preferences setting to allow AIM displaying the type of Icon you want to see.
December 26, 2004 at 3:59 am #109780CantTouchThisMemberi always get my icons from badassbuddy
but since this started, whenever I click on the icon, nothing happens it just loads the next page, but it doesn’t come up with a prompt to change my AIM icon.
what do I do?

I mean it’s been doing this for A LONG TIME.. as in 3 months
December 27, 2004 at 5:22 am #109771aneagleParticipantWith IE, I got the next page with a blank square and a suggestion to download AIM. I tried a different browser, Opera, I got a popup:
“The address type is unknown or unsupported”
“aim:BuddyIcon?Scr=http://baddassbuddy.bolt.com/images/buddies/badassbuddy_com-sonic.gif”
so I use that address http://…sonic.gif to download the icon and manually put it into my AIM.December 27, 2004 at 7:58 pm #109782CantTouchThisMemberNope, manually inserting the code didn’t work. It just takes me to my current buddy icon.
However, I would just like to get this fixed.. as in get it working from sites and be able to view subprofiles/anything that loads inside aim.

https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5993December 28, 2004 at 8:29 am #109783CantTouchThisMemberI put the headline in caps to get more attention….
but anyway, I need this problem fixed ASAP.
can anyone help?
December 28, 2004 at 3:01 pm #109772aneagleParticipantThe problem is at basassbuddy site, I can save some of the displayed gif images onto my local drive and use AIM preferences/Expressions/Browse PC to load it but this doesn’t work for all. The gif icon is there and displayed by IE but when I right click it and save, IE can’t get it the second time. So, I have to go the hard way, I empty my Temoprary Internet Files before going to that website, when I got the page fully displayed all the gif files are in Temporary Internet Files folders and I take them from there.
December 28, 2004 at 3:17 pm #109784CantTouchThisMemberit’s not the site.
any site I go to does this, including sub profiles, the chatroom content in chat windows, almost anything that has a ‘Loading content’ part, is error loading content.
December 29, 2004 at 1:32 pm #109773aneagleParticipantcould you post or e-mail me the address of some of the other sites, I’ll have a look and see what’s wrong.
I get back to badassbuddy today and find something has been changed, I click an icon and get a script command trying to start a new instance of AIM. I try again before starting AIM, a popup saying I have to signon AIM to get my icon changed, it also starts AIM, I click signon, a new popup asks me to confirm the change, click ok and my icon is changed to the new one.
I guess AIM now becomes more commercial and keep trying to direct users to their associate pay site and other sites with free icons are trying to modify a script line to work around the problem.
December 29, 2004 at 5:01 pm #109785CantTouchThisMemberWell, here are a few:
none of those work, and the subprofiles,Chat room windows, and anything that has “loading content” still won’t load.
