I found the same script command on all 3 sites, another way did work on all 3:
– right click on the icon, copy image address (not short cut or link), go to Expressions, Browse PC, right click the box and paste.
I removed AIM Adhack by restoring the original aim.exe and aimres.dll and a click on an icon did open Epressions window with the new icon and a popup for confirmation.
December 29, 2004 at 7:38 pm #109786CantTouchThisMemberThe buddy icon thing worked, but i’d really like to find a fix for the ‘Loading content’ error.
This problem happened even when I had the original aim.exe, and the original dll files.
December 30, 2004 at 5:43 am #109775aneagleParticipantI included a subprofile in one of my AIM s/n and try to read it from my other s/n, it’s loaded without problem. The subprofile is a link in the profile window and when you open somebody’s profile, any link in that window is a potential danger and may be blocked by a virus or trojan protection.
Include a subprofile will disable “Expressions” change feature in AIM preferences and it becomes not possible to change buddy icon through “Expressions”. So, if you use a subprofile generated by a website, you include also your buddy icon it it.

December 30, 2004 at 8:01 pm #109776aneagleParticipantDid you set any control on content in IE? any popup stopper? any security protection plugin or firewall? any adware blocker? can you access the subprofile website from IE?
In my previous post, I did the test with Norton protection on, ZoneAlarm firewall on, Ad Watch Monitor active.
The subprofile is an URL in AIM profile info window. If you can’t get to that webpage from IE,you can review all possible protections and IE options and turn off one by one to see which one blocks the subprofile. If you can get to it from IE but not from AIM profile window, check if there’s any protection add-on to AIM. AIM Adhack per exemple, is a patch with many options and one of them can block any link to address other than aol.
After eliminate all possible blocker and you’re still not able to get the subprofile, modify your startup to run windows barebone and only AIM in original installation. If you can’t get the subprofile, check the file Windowssystem32driversETChosts and see if there’s any line related to the subprofile site. If the hosts file is clean and you are not behind a firewall ( could be a corporate firewall), the only thing I can suggest is to call your ISP.
December 30, 2004 at 8:51 pm #109788CantTouchThisMemberi can get to it from IE, I forgot to mention that.
how do I see if there is any protection installed?
i run DeadAIM 4.5, but it’s been doing this WAY before I even got DeadAIM.
December 31, 2004 at 1:08 am #109777aneagleParticipantEdit & remove because I didn’t see it starts a new page and double post.
December 31, 2004 at 1:20 am #109778aneagleParticipantRun hidjackthis and check every line of the scan result, you can find it here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe, e-mail me the scan result if you’re not sure about the meaning.
You can try to remove DeadAIM then remove AIM and re-install AIM, this is to make sure you run a clean AIM.
January 2, 2005 at 5:06 pm #109789CantTouchThisMemberit’s fixed, it turns out it was something with my ISP
