I have the most current build of Yahoo & have never been able to use the Super Mode on my webcam. I am on cable (roadrunner) & have Black Ice Defender running on my PC (Win 98). I have my preferences set in Yahoo to allow the Super Mode for only 1 person & to ignore other requests, etc. I even have said person’s IP address set to “Always Trust” on my Black Ice. That is as much as I know computer wise… but the button is stil ghosted & will not allow me to use it when my cam is active. Yahoo’s Help page is written in Sanskrit & helps not one iota. Can NE1 give me more step-by-step info? Thank you in advance!!!
More input… When I pull up my webcam & go to Statistics, I get the following:
Connection Mode: Server
Frame Rate: changes as i type
Bandwidth: 0.00
Image Size: 320 x 240 (large webcam)
Image Capture Type: VFW (whatever that means)
NEway the Super Button stays unclickable & there is a note at the bottom the the cam that says “Super Mode is not available”. Help me please!!!!!
For what it’s worth, I’ve NEVER been able to get Yahoo! Super Webcam Mode working through a router or a firewall, in spite of following Yahoo’s instructions.
To test, I finally disconnected my router and temporarily connected my DSL modem directly to my PC’s NIC, and finally I was able to see the Super Mode. It was very disappointing. Read my post in this discussion and you’ll see why.
Glad to know I’m not missing much! Thanks for the link, Jeff. Does anyone know of anything that might help, other than the IM companion? (I use Yahoo more than anything.)
