If noticed a bit, when people supply a IP address of their own, it gets removed by a moderator. If they are willing to supply it by their own free will, why block it out?
I know this site does not permit hacking, but it doesnt stop them from coming, and Im sure the public knows that by now (or atleast Im think they do), so if they post THEIR IP, why not keep it? They are the ones allowing for possible attempts of any kind.
Sure it may incease a posibility, but everything is full of possibilities. As long as its not another’s IP or even email for that matter, why should it be removed?May 16, 2003 at 6:36 pm #96306DJHyperbyteMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by detn8rIf noticed a bit, when people supply a IP address of their own, it gets removed by a moderator. I’m not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don’t we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?”
However, BigBlueBall protects their citizens against their own stupidity. 🙂

I didn’t notice that, and I can’t remember ever removing someone’s IP address, personally. It can be an invitation to mischief, but if you know what the hell you’re doing, it’s really not much of a big deal, in my opinion.
Of course, one of the problems is that someone might lie, and claim to be posting their own IP address, but actually posting one belonging to someone else. That could get ugly.
Anyhow, I haven’t seen it, but I don’t see every post or keep tabs on every edit, so that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t happened.
