Hi all,
I am conducting a survey on Instant Messengers in the workplace as part of my final year research project from University of London (UOL), UK. This survey will be focused on users who use Instant Messengers in the workplace. The aim of this survey is to explore various reasons regarding on the usage and adoption of Instant Messengers in workplaces. If you do use IM for work, i would appreciate if you could take some time to do this survey.
This survey has 6 pages. It will take approximately 10 – 15 minutes to complete the whole survey. The data collected from this survey is strictly for research purposes only. You will not be required to enter any information which will lead to you and your company being identified.
If you wish to see the findings of this research, you may choose to leave your name and email address on the last page. This will be kept confidential and it will not be placed in my final report to UOL.

For example:
Please give your rating on your intention to use IM in future:
I intent to use IM at work for the next 3 months.
I predict I would use IM at work for the next 3 months.
I plan to use IM work for the next 3 months.I don’t see how any of those are different from each other.
…just a thought.

Thanks for your feedback 🙂
The reason for doing this is that not everyone interpret words the same way. Some ppl might have their own definition for the words so these set of questions might seem similar to 1 group of people while another group might see it differently.
All the Qs within 1 set are intended to capture the essence of the term measured. Take for instance the ones you quote, the 3 terms intent, predict and plan. They in their own terms have their own different meaning, while putting them in the questions might make them seem similar there is still a chance that ppl might see them differently.
Hope you understand coz i m not very good at explaining this 😛
thanks for the effort and time you put in to do this survey. thanksFebruary 11, 2009 at 3:11 am #172398NationHahnMemberIt might too late to take your survey now but instant messaging in the workplace is an interest of mine so I filled it out. I work for Brosix Enterprise Instant Messaging so it is something I focus on every day.
I hope that your survey goes well.
