If you could implement it yourself then yeah it would be, but otherwise nope gotta go with an addon. I use Messenger:Mate for that.

Messenger:Mate is not free, it’s $5 just like dead aim for a year of subscriptions, but unlike dead aim its updated CONSTANTLY and new version are put out ALL the time to sign up for it go to http://www.versoworks.com/members/signup.php?r=723. It’s WELL worth the $5 and if you refer a friend(get a new person to sign up for it) you get an extra 2 months free! and as of right now is THE ONLY aim-addon that works fully with 5.9

also, if you dont mind trying out other clients, i really like trillian. it allows tabbed windows, lets you connect to the big 5 networks… etc.

try it out if you like, otherwise basically you’re stuck choosing between using add-ons or not having tabbed windows. OR… you can always downgrade aim to an earlier version, one that did work with deadaim or some other add-on. either way you still have to deal with addons

There’s a new version of Smilez out, and he created a whole new addition for the display and use of tabs…it’s pretty cool. There are now also icons in the tabs that show if the user is away or signed off. I still say go for Smilez, and it is compatible with 5.x.xxxx, unlike m:m which only claims 5.9.3702 compatibility.

Do the tabbed windows creat another row when there are to many tabs on one row like the dead aim or do they just get smaller like the Trillian??

depends on where you have the tabs located if you have them on top or bottom then yeah i think they make another row, but if you have on right or left then an arrow shows up and you click that to find your other ims i have mine on the right
