ParticipantI have windows xp and I have a problem with the taskbar, whenever I click on something there, there seems to be a small delay of about 3 seconds and then the window appears, and it happens everytime, not only when im on the internet. and of course its irritating, I mean, there arent any stuff downloading or something and theres aleays this delay. I wonder what it is.

MemberMaybee you have too much stuff installed on your comp! Or maybee its addware or spyware (I forget the name of it! Its something like that!) that is slowing your comp down! nly things I can think of! Make sure you dont have lots of stuff that start when u start windows, that slows it down. Disable those.

MemberI seriously doubt that spyware would slow your taskbar’s reaction time by three seconds. I might be able to help you if you do the following: Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del on your keyboard > Taks Manager (optional) > Processes (Tab) > Then tell me how many things are listed, and if you have the time, what they are. Then I might be able to dish out some advice.

MemberWell, heres a possible fix for the Automatic Updating problem.
Quote:quote: Erm…I assume you mean you are trying to update Windows via Automatic Updating?Make sure you have the necessary services enabled, these are:
*Background Intelligent Transfer Service
*Cryptographic ServicesTo enable these:
Start > Run > Type “Services.msc” without the quotes.
Scroll down the list to find the above services, and double click them to open their properties. Change the startup type to “Automatic” and save changes.
Hope that helps.

ParticipantThese are already automatic to me.

Participanti checked for adawares, for viruses, those settings for the automatic update, but everything seems to work ok there. why do I get those delays then in the taskbar which seems to expand in the windows explorer too!

MemberSometimes, it could be the program that you’re clicking on. When you click on it to call it up, or if you’re right-clicking on a system tray icon, Windows may have to call it up from memory. My programs are like that, too.

MemberYou might want to do a Scan Disk and then a Defragment of your main hard drive. Both are found in Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools.

Hope that helpsproblem is knowing exactly what you do or do not really need…. if you accidentally disable something your system needs, that could potentially be bad
