AIM Add-ons & Utilities.
I don’t think so, as this is neither an add-on, nor a utility, but a full AIM client. That remote control seems pretty cool. I’m having some problems sending files to myself from the same computer, but otherwise nice work!

I thought the same thing as Rusty the first time i saw this thread, but upon reading through it I realized it’s fine where it is. it’s a client in and of itself. it can’t be an add-on, since the point of it is to connect to AIM without having to install AIM – meaning no native client to add on to.June 12, 2005 at 3:34 am #123958Cronus

I had the same thought process as you when I was originally making this thread. I suppose the ideal would be to have a main forum for AIM Talk separate from AIM Support, but this is what we have.Anyway, just after george put up that 1.1 beta, I had to go do a tech call, so I left it running on my computer. It actually came in handy when I got to the support site and realized I had not brought a CD with support files. I logged into AIM and sent them over to the computer I was working on, saving myself a drive home and back again.

MemberI did some testing with the TerraIM Developer before he publicly released the beta, and I can assure you that his new Remote Control feature is well worth using. Even our own techy moderator Dave was impressed by it.
Question for developer: When Dave attempted to grab a few files from me, none of the connections would establish. Got any advice?

Did the connection fail right away, or did it say “Redirecting” first?I’ve been trying to track down a few bugs in file sending. Contact me privately so I can get more details.

MemberTerraIM is now ranked the 83th project on SourceForge.net in the weekly activity ratings!
Some other updates:
-Someone on the TerraIM forums asked for ICQ support. I tried logging in with an ICQ number, and it justed worked without any code changes! (This is because AOL bought out ICQ) So, now TerraIM is an AIM/ICQ client.
-I’ve been working on 1.1 and things are proressing pretty well. Just yesterday I added uploading to the remote control. Now I can leave remote control on in my house, go to a friend’s house, and if I like a song or something, I can put it directly on my computer over AIM.
Here are some other recent change in the 1.1 beta
-Changed the nonstandard link cursor
-Removed error message that was displayed if sound filename was not found
-On pressing “Add Buddy”, offer to add the buddies with open conversations
-Enabled timestamp display in chatrooms
-Added an error message when an IM doesn’t go through because it is too longI plan to start working on buddy aliasing in a day or two.
As usual, you can download & bug test the latest beta from http://terraim.sf.net/test/TerraIM.exe-George
