I’m at University, and I’m behind a firewall, which has closed many ports. I’m trying to download Torrents, but can’t find an open port. I found sites that let you test a port one at a time, but its taking forever. Is there something I can use (site/program) to see which ports are open, so that I can download Torrents?
I know 6881-6889 are the recommended ones, but their closed.
Thanks.
There are two types of port scanners at your disposal, programs and online.
Nmap is generally your scanning tool of choice (it was even used in a scene in the Matrix by Trinity :)), and Der Keiler’s is a nice online portscan (however it doesn’t scan all 65535 ports, it scans the most common/vulnerable ones).
Thanks…
I actually ended up getting Bitcomet to work. Not sure how though, I tested the port that it uses and its closed, but it still works fine.
