Have at it! This is your topic! ๐
December 14, 2006 at 5:18 pm #155378Tea GrannyMemberHere I go again!!! Hopefully, I will be able to delete this one! Thanks for the help Oreo.

Still can’t find the delete! I hope it’s missing and I’m not just really stupid. I’ve added an image of what I see when I “go advanced.” There is nothing of use above or below the image on my screen. Where do I find the delete option?
December 14, 2006 at 5:24 pm #155373OreoMemberAnytime! ๐
I noticed that you had troubles after I had already posted this…I’ll look into it now…it be a bug!
Houston…we have a problem…I do not think you can delete for some reason….I’ll have Jeff look into this one!
December 14, 2006 at 9:09 pm #155371twistedmetalMemberI do not think regular members can delete their own posts?
December 14, 2006 at 9:13 pm #155370detn8rParticipantI think that is true. A regular member has the benefits of an MSN Messenger Advisor in the Yahoo Messenger forum – none.

It just doesn’t make any sense that you can’t delete your own post. I’m sure there is a good reason for it, but it eludes me.
As soon as this “delete” option is settled, I can move on to “linking” practice! Joy!!! More stuff for the staff to delete.
Ooooo and then trackbacks, and then….
I hope you are not wishing that you should have never offered to help Oreo!:D
December 15, 2006 at 2:40 pm #155372OreoMemberI think not too long ago people could delete their own posts…so I’m waiting on Jeff to weigh in on this. And I am certainly NOT wishing I did not offer you help! I love a good mystery and I love to help..We’ll get this one solved! ๐

I hope, when all this is done, you can simply delete the entire thread in one go! Please tell me you don’t have to delete each post individually. ๐ฎ

December 16, 2006 at 3:37 pm #155374OreoMemberHee hee hee…I’m not sure what I’ll be able to tell you….but it will be something! ๐ ๐
December 18, 2006 at 1:08 pm #155376Tea GrannyMemberWell, while we’re waiting on the “delete” answer, maybe you can explain how I can use the permalink thing? (see attached image)
I am going to try and practice the link thing now so hopefully both of these following links will take me to the very first post in this thread.
or here: https://bigblueball.com/forums/211645-post1.html
I hope this editing bumps this topic. I sure would like an answer to the “delete” post thing!
December 27, 2006 at 4:25 pm #155380Tea GrannyMemberBump!
Sorry, I know it is a bad thing to bump but I would like to know if any progress has been made on the “delete” post business.
Yes, I know, I am a huge pain!
-TG:)
December 27, 2006 at 4:55 pm #155375OreoMemberNot a pain at all…I think changes are coming a bit slow with this time of year! ๐ I’ll see if I can prod Jeff a little bit on it ๐
December 28, 2006 at 7:15 am #155369Jeff HesterKeymasterI don’t allow users to delete their own messages. It can be problematic, especially if someone starts deleting all their stuff in a drunken stupor (or even a tea-induced stupor). All the other replies no longer make sense, etc.
If you have a post that needs to be deleted, just report it. That sends an email to the moderation team for that forum and they can take care of it. Is that ok?

Is that ok?The whole thing makes perfect sense to me since I could not find a delete option (even in my tea induced stupor;) ) for the post in question despite the insistence of your staff members that a delete option was there.
Perhaps, Jeff, you should inform your staff members what options us “users” do and do not have. There seems to have been some confusion. See this thread
Oreo,
Many thanks for the “practice” thread. I do appreciate all your help. I’m happy to find out I’m not doing as bad as I thought. I’m glad the delete option wasn’t there and not just that I couldn’t find it – whew!-TG
