September 24, 2006 at 8:29 pm #152442Jeff HesterKeymasterI’ve now got clients running on two desktops and one laptop. I’m gunning for that number one spot that WhiteMateria stole away from me. :p
Watch out!
September 24, 2006 at 8:52 pm #152458SpikeMemberI quit. This stupid app eats my processor usage for breakfast and it’s driving me nuts because my computer lags from it.

You always just run it when you’re asleep or away.
September 24, 2006 at 11:13 pm #152459SpikeMember… Oh, what the hell. I thought you just ran it all the time and it detected when it was allowed to take over your CPU and when you were actually using your computer. Guess not, though. (Stupid thing…)
September 25, 2006 at 12:00 am #152444Jeff HesterKeymasterI do run it all the time, and it’s supposed to (as I understand it) wait for idle processor time to kick into action. I suppose that as with anything, your mileage may vary. But I have it configured to run at startup and haven’t had a problem running Photoshop, Visual Studio, Firefox, etc. with the folding client in the background.

September 25, 2006 at 2:13 am #152464QuiksilverMemberSounds like Jake (Spike) is the only person having problems with it. I also have it running and I can even play games like Counter Strike, Age of Empires III without any noticeable lag. Everything runs fine. Maybe Jake’s got a different issue 😉
On a side note 3063/20,000 Frames done =/. Going to take another 17 days at my rate of 1,000 frames a day.
Site says it’s got 100 frames, app says there’s 20,000…as long as I get my credit and my rate of 10-25 seconds per frame keeps up I’m good to go.
September 25, 2006 at 2:40 am #152465NessaParticipantI’m having the same problem as Spike. It makes me lag alot. So i guess i have to start it manually when i’m not busy on computer?

What happens here is that it simply takes up the rest of the idle CPU cycles when you are using the computer. If it takes 30% to do what you need to it will grab the other 70%. If you really need to there is a slide meter than you can change the percentage of overall idle CPU cycles it grabs. Perhaps if you slide it down a notch to like 90 or 80% and go from there.Oh and Jeff be sure to change the machine ID numbers within each copy of the client running.
Marchine ID 1 – Computer 1
Marchine ID 2 – Computer 2
Marchine ID 3 – Computer 3I don’t see any configuration option to set the Machine ID.
