Thanks
I appreciate all your help in helping me to understand it better.April 15, 2006 at 12:33 am #138107RabidKittenParticipantOooh, most definately, HJ. Thanks Vanessa, I appreciate it. *totally clueless…has been given a clue…keeps it in a box to cherrish and love forever*
April 15, 2006 at 1:32 am #138108SpikeMemberErm…may I ask? Why did you add a space in between each pip, I liked it better before.
April 20, 2006 at 6:55 pm #138129Mike_WattsMemberAlways liked this system..good to see its applied here 😀
May 4, 2006 at 3:25 pm #138122Tea GrannyMemberI like the system too, but I am a little fuzzy on a few things.
– Where does it show whom I gave (tried to give) rep points to? I’ve forgotten who I tried to give points to and I want to spread more around.
– Does it say who gave me rep points? I have recieved rep’s and I don’t know who gave them. It bothers me not being able to say thank you.
Sarah tried to explain it to me, but I just can’t find any info other than the topic I recieved rep on, and the comment made.

The only way you can partially know is if you try to give a person reputation and get the following:
Quote:You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to (person) again.Of course this will stop coming up again after you spread some around, so it’s not a absolute way of finding out who you have given rep. to.

If you click on the thread it takes you to the direct post which you are getting the rep for. The main reasoning i see behind this is anonymity. If some people knew who gave them bad rep. they might seek revenge and purposely give them bad rep as well for no reason. So it’s good to keep it this way.
Hope i answered your questions properly!
May 4, 2006 at 4:17 pm #138123Tea GrannyMemberAnswered perfectly thank you!
It never occured to me that someone would want to give a bad rep!

I feel another good reason for anonymity is even when giving Good reputation. If I compliment you anonymously then you must figure it’s “for real” – whereas if you know it came from ME, then it MAY be just my trying to ingratiate myself with you for some reason. 😉May 27, 2006 at 9:31 pm #138128williamleeMemberI am sure there are both negative and positive reasons for knowing whom gave you good and bad reputations. Being that it is optional by the giver, I feel that is best.
Personally I like when I know. Not so I can feel obligated in returning the favor, rather it be good or bad.
September 13, 2006 at 9:51 pm #138116NessaParticipantThought i might give a bit of an update to those who haven’t noticed some changes in BigBlueBall’s Reputation System:
1. Now you can only give positive reputation.
2. You get a nice little pop up message when you give reputation, like this:
3. There is a new infraction system, which will be fully explained in a new thread and i’ll be sure to edit my post to include link later.
4. The option to view who you last gave reputation to has been removed from your “My BigBlueBall”
5. And this one is to state, that i apologize ahead of time if i forgot to add something! 😛
So these are some of the changes that have occured with the Reputation System and thought i’d give everyone a heads up, if you hadn’t noticed!
Anyone feel free to add in anything i missed!

September 20, 2006 at 2:26 am #138109SpikeMemberdvelez: To answer both of your questions: We are re-implementing the “MY BigBlueBall” recent reputation list in your profile, we lost it in the upgrade. And we removed the negative option for rep for a few well thought out reasons which we (we being staff) discussed as a team. If you don’t like someone’s post, don’t give them rep. Simple. 🙂
