essentials?:
And Rabid, I never said anything like that. And even if i did, you where the one who said it serves them right for living there. But again, “that is neither here nor there.”
Anyway, what i meant in this case is that gathering money isnt the problem Because it can’t be used. Choppers are being shot at and the crime going on is phenomanal. Humanity at it’s worse.
‘Four days after the killer storm slammed into the US Gulf Coast, New Orleans was still plagued by gunbattles and rapes, with gangs of looters and carjackers roving the streets and bodies just left lying by the roadside.’
i could understand if they were, you know, vikings…
but raping and pillaging isn’t exactly the most appropriate method of sustaining ones own life.edit:

You can’t ship anything down there…roads are flooded with like 20 feet of water. How would the packages get to the post offices? and even, where would the packages go?
Money is best. The troops and the Red Cross can use the money to purchase food, water, and the like.
Oh and that picture…although it’s highly unlikely, beer could be used as a way to at least drink SOMETHING to keep you hydrated. Beer does dehydrate when you drink TOOO much, however, you could just sip it to keep yourself a little bit refreshed.

I’m reading the news online now, “Bush sending 17000 more troops to Gulf” I don’t know for what to help them out or to shoot guns on them.
I have seen Army camps during flood period, their efforts in flooded areas but never ever seen them shooting at people who are in need. If you supply them with essentials they wouldn’t do anything.
I also read a news on BBC that the Black population isn’t getting any help out there, they’re neglacted. What about it? Is all citizens of United States are not equal in rights?September 4, 2005 at 2:25 am #129326QwertyMemberI’m right, because if money was the only problem the gov has plenty.
They just prefer money over goods becasue moneu os more flexible.

September 4, 2005 at 2:52 am #129319OreoMemberThey have guns because SOME of the people they are trying to save have guns. And as far as the gov ONLY saving non-African Americans…that’s not true…they are saving ANYONE who needs saving and is NOT shooting at them. Granted, many of the people who were caught in the hurricane and could not leave were African-American and too poor to get out of town. That’s a tragedy…however…some could leave but chose not to…that’s foolishness…just like shooting at people who are trying to help you. Think about it…if you are there to help some one and they start shooting at you…would you save them…or would you save the people who are not shooting and are just happy to get away from danger? Right now, the military is trying to: Fix the flooding, get people to safety, save those who are still there from being preyed upon by those who are taking advantage of the vulnerablity of others and keep order. There are some houses and neighborhoods that were not that badly hit…the people there can pretty much live in their houses…they just cannot get back to them…and others in the area are taking THOSE people’s belongings…how is that fair? I know many people are without essentials…but these are NOT the same people breaking into others homes… Take a look at the link I have in my sig along with the relief link…it is a link to the local New Orleans paper. You can read what the people there are reading and what they are really going through…then decide for yourself. The majority of people there are in great need and are just trying to survive…it’s the ones raping others and preying upon people that spoil it and scare people to the point that some actually feel safer (look at Rabid’s post if you think my point in crazy) with guns and authority around. It’s going to take a LONG time to sort all of this out…the best we can do is pray for the people and send what help we can.
September 4, 2005 at 2:58 am #129332DrBroccoliParticipantWell forgive for not posting earlier, but about the soldiers not being about to do anything about the messed up people shooting at rescue helicopters… Martial Law was declared, right after it happened, which means people with authority are allowed to fire at anyone not obeying the law, its basically a “shoot now, ask questions later” type of deal. I mean if they tell someone to stay of the streets, or anywhere, after 5 or so, hypothetically speaking, and a person does not obey, they can and will be arrested, and if that such person shows defiance the people of the law can and are allowed to use force. What is stopping our soldiers from going in there and stopping them? What’s more important, hiding from psychos or taking them out of the way and saving hundreds of lives?
Edit: After reading a few more articles here and there, I have found a mistake in my writing. No such term is defined anywhere in the Louisiana Government, so instead a State of Emergency was issued, which in essence is the same thing. It allows police to enforce law without worry to Civil or Miranda rights, and allows for Military intervention of the law.
