What does everyone think of this article?
If someone has blocked me, they’ve blocked me, I’ll get over it but I don’t want them lingering about on my contacts or them seeing me appear ‘Online.’
This is the method I use to check to see if someone has blocked me and it’s worked in every case so far. It’s a bit long winded but here we go. This is a first draft so please comment if you think I can improve.
1. While logged into your Msn / Windows Live account find on the top tool bar the ‘Save Instant Messaging Contacts’ Option. Save your contacts list (.ctt file) somewhere easily accessible.2. Right click on the file and open it with ‘Notepad’ You’ll see all your contacts in this type of format:
friend1 @ hotmail.com
friend2 @ hotmail.com
friend3 @ yahoo.com …
3. Delete all the contacts that you are sure haven’t blocked you and just leave the contacts whose blocking status you want to check in the list. So in this instance I just delete ‘friend2′ and the list becomes:
friend1 @ hotmail.com
friend3 @ yahoo.com …
Save the file.
4. Open up hotmail and create a new account. Be smart and use something anonymous and untraceable. I use random digits (like [email protected] or [email protected])
5. Open up the version of Msn / Windows Live installed on your computer with the new account and go to the contacts menu and import the contacts file you just edited. SET YOUR STATUS TO APPEAR OFFLINE WHEN YOU LOGIN SO YOU DON’T GET ANYONE MESSAGING YOU WHEN YOU ARE ONLINE!
6. The invites are sent to all the people in the list who will more than likely accept. (They all have for me.)
7. Log out of that account and login using your original account.
8. Open up MSN webmessenger or meebo or e-messenger and log in with the new account and SET YOUR STATUS TO APPEAR OFFLINE BEFORE YOU LOGIN.
9. Now you have two versions of Windows Live / Msn running side by side and you can see who has you blocked by comparing the two.
It’s a bit long winded but has worked for me but there are a few problems like
1. The person might not accept the invite
2. They must send you an e-mail saying ‘Who is this?’ or something.
3. Online Instant Messaging being down
4. You not setting your status to ‘Appear Offline’ and them messaging you.Let me know what ye think =D

This method is neither near perfect or even slightly perfect. There is currently no reliable way to check who blocked you.

There are lots of other subtle methods of block checking, so try checking around for those.. here is one using MSN Spaces to check for blockers: Messenger Tools.NET > News > MSN Block Checker technique: Block Checking using MSN/Live Spaces (i guess this only works if your contact had a blog)… theres also more details: Messenger Tools.NET > MSN Block Checker – Check if you have been blocked on MSN Messenger!
August 2, 2007 at 8:05 am #162791PhilipModeratorPersonally, I don’t give a hoot about who has blocked me. Even if I could find out, what benefit does that give me? It just means that particular person doesn’t want to chat with me anymore. End of story.

May 16, 2012 at 8:12 am #162793kaichou22MemberHi Fireglo! Another way to check is to verify if contact has unchecked “Allow only people on my Allow List can see my status and send me messages” on the Privacy tab options. But today this option is checked by default, so we can ultimately never be sure of anything! You could create a new account, add that person and if he/she goes online on your another account, then possibly he/she blocked you. Additionally, this article will be useful to you: How to check if you have been blocked or deleted on MSN | DarkTips
