Terrorism is the Cancer.
From this day we, Australia have moved to ‘extreme terrorist alert’ n it seems may remain this way for up to 4 years.
This is both frightening and sad, sad because our whole life style will be changed forever by this. We seek to control nothing, only to ‘be’.
To my Muslim friends, neighbours, brothers n sisters you obviously as a minority must be more scared than are we. Together we will beat this cancer, that we follow different prophets of the same God will somehow unite us.
That you, a minority do not trust us at times is understandable, That we may also not trust is just as sad, just as ignorant.
That terrorists cloak themselves in the clothes of a religion that is peaceful n tolerant is disgusting. This cancer must be cut out n destroyed, then let us turn on our politicians n kick some butt.
Such a shame that we cannot just give a gun to each politican, a small island just to themselves n a month to settle their problems, then jail the survivors.Inshallah…… (trust in God)

November 28, 2002 at 5:52 pm #66038magistykMemberYou don’t have to be muslim to say Inshallah, Arab christians also say that. This is what I do not like about the world today, anything arabic is automatically assumed to be muslim. I am a Lebanese Christian, and we still say Inshallah, it has nothing to do with the Islamic religion.
I’m looking forward to the day where we stop hearing about bombings and terrorist attacks on the news, a day where the only thing we could hear on the news was a robbery of some sort. I’m not saying I like robberies, but it would be better than hearing about a bombing in Indonesia or somewhere.

November 29, 2002 at 3:35 pm #66040world-in-unionMemberI totally concur with you, Rustedtight. IMHO, it’s not only terrorism that is a new and yet very old form of cancer on this planet, but it’s the entire moral downfall of values that I observe eveywhere that is contributing to it. Nobody could loose if we just returned to a good and moral lifestyle that does not oppose the ways of our Creator – whether He/She/They is/are called God, Allah, or by any other name.
In Switzerland – that’s where I live – we have mercifully been spared from the horrors of war and major terrorism for many centuries now, but for that “privilege” we pay a high price, namely the corruption of our country. We’ve been doing business with about every despotic regime you can think of (including the Third Reich, South Africa during Apartheid, and many others…). All of this under the guise of “neutrality”. But good moral values are not neutral. They never are. Evil must be eradicated from the face of the earth, by the right means. A wise friend of mine says, “What you resist, persits.” I believe there is a lot of truth in this statement. So what we have to do is not fight AGAINST such sources of evil as terrorism, greed, corruption, deceit, etc. but to STAND UP for what is right. Let’s set a positive and constructive example for the generations to come while improving whatever we can in our generation.
(Of course, I totally agree that the persons responsible for illegal actions should by all means be detained so that they can no longer persue with their wrongdoings.)
Just a few thoughts of mine…
And I apologise if my English isn’t so perfect, for it is not my native language.
Kind regards,
Hugo
