With the advent of XML and its many application particularly to the provision of news feeders etc and its now rapid growth, comes a new threat XML virus. Although XML has been in use since 1998
Its only a matter of time before this becomes this becomes another issue:
- Manipulating the XML Schema to alter processing information
- Injection of malicious scripts or content into request parameters
- Sending oversized messages to create an XDoS attack
- Sending mass amounts of nested data to create an XDoS attack against the XML parser
- An attack on an application that parses XML input from un-trusted sources
to name but a few.. don’t say i didn’t warn you !!
Yes, you are right. XML can be used for destructive purpose also, as happened with JAVA, besides its advantages it also caused many troubles for people. Spyware is the one facilitated by JAVA scripts. Like JAVA expliots, hackers can also search XML exploits therefore keep XMP uptight in terms of security.
