I got a pretty wild virus/spyware thing today… a buddy of mine sent me a link which i clicked on. All that was there was some stupid catch saddam game I exited the game and people were messaging me constantly asking what the link i was sending was… Apparently I was sending the same link that I clicked on to everyone on my buddy list. What suprised me about this was that I could not see the messages I was apparently sending everyone deadaim doesnt have them logged I never clicked a security certificate or agreed to anything… I have everything up to date with microsoft and aol and my norton virus scan is up to date. The site that is providing this “service” is http://www.buddylinks.net i found that after analyzing the source code from the website. Apparently they feel that they are helping share cool links, games, and jokes by mass messaging EVERYONE on your buddy list. This seems to me to be a new aggressive breed of spyware… I finally got this piece of **** company’s software to stop… had to kill a service and remove some startup material… have the rest of you heard of this yet or am I cutting edge with the new material? If you need some help removing this crap just post and maybe I can help you out

“Freshman Girls…. get em while their skinny”February 11, 2004 at 2:45 am #84783Grim ReaperMemberI got that message from about 6 of my friends today. The first time was from one of my friends that was idle and away so I knew something was up because he doesn’t have any kind of add-on. So I didn’t even bother clicking on it.

February 11, 2004 at 3:57 am #84786defnshowMemberno the thing was on that we captured osoma game I found the link through to their site through the source on the site… i’ve actually been looking into some source for this thing some more… it is saving your entire buddy list and uploading it to the buddylinks.net site… it is also logging who the client sends the advertisements to. It is also receiving information just before it messages someone else on your list (probably the site telling it who to send to) on their site is a do not contact list which probably forces them not to have other infected clients send it to yours… at least thats what it looks like. Hell they are probably going to sell all the screen names they collect to some other advertiser and it wouldnt surprise me if they sold their do not send list to others… the people in this world today lol… their software has apparently just been activated today its sad how many people they probably already have

Again, I might be completely wrong and if I am, please tell me.
