Hi,
I have searched around and found nothing on this topic.
I use IM in work for things that are not really work-related (ahem). Can anyone tell me if (1) anyone can monitor what rooms I go to (without accessing my PC) or (2) if anyone can see my username besides those that I am chatting with or in a room with (e.g. network guys in the building). I am really asking about internal techs, and what they can see on network traffic.
Many thanks
RedFox
Dear RedFox,
If I’m a network admin in your work place, I would say that I can basically see and know everything you did. Just try not to do something that you know is not appropriate in your work place.
And that is a BIG YES!!!!!!! to that question redfox. Your Admin has control over every system, including web sites, yahoo, AND email, and actually has the legal right to read every email, track the sites you go to, and watch your yahoo usage.
Be berry berry careful, you rascally rabit!!!

Thanks for the replies. I work in a building that is a bunch of small companies sharing services. So the netadmin guys do not have full access, they really provide a service plugging us into a service provider. So we are not employed by the same people > no legal rights. I was just wondering if this changes the picture? It might mean that they cannot access our traffic (technically)? Many thanks again… I may just have to behave! Redfox
