Hello all –
It’s that time to switch over to a new laptop. Question: is it possible to copy my message archives over to my new computer? I had done it previously by copying over all the files from the profiles folder from the old computer to the new one. Now I cant find this folder in the latest version of yahoo messenger.
Any help is much appreciated…
Hi, you can find your message archives, C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerProfiles
so just copy the folder which is named ur id
Not: My Yahoo installed on C , if ur yahoo installed different place before u should find where your Yahoo installed ,
Hope it will help you
That’s the strange thing – I have the archive function turned on but there is no “Profile” folder. Going to c:program files yahoo messenger directory I see folders for: Cache ext imvcache logs Media Plugin and skins. I’ve checked each of these folders and still no “profiles”. I dont know where the new version of YIM even stores archives anymore.
Anyone else come up against this?
Thanks in advance….
You also should have folders for games, text, and logs, as well as Profiles folder, in your messenger folder.
your path should be C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerProfiles
In the Profiles folder should be folders for your account that you’ve logged into YM on, while on that particular computer.
If it isn’t there, you might also use your Windows search to look for the Profiles folder.
In messenger itself, you can open the “Contacts” section, scroll down, and open the archive itself from there. It should come up with your archives.
