MemberIce_cajun: sounds like you’re running an outdated version of Internet Explorer (at a bit of a wild guess). Try upgrading to 6.0 maybe?

KeymasterI just posted my initial impression of Trillian 3 along with some screenshots.
After running it for just a couple days, I like it a lot!
Next I plan to do some testing of the audio/video capabilities.

MemberI don’t know ice_cajun. I have a theory that has like a 1% chance of being true and since no one figured out the problem yet I’ve decided to share it. Did you have trillian before you got 3.0 Alpha? 3.0 Alpha might not have the file and since it saves into the same directory the old trillian is saved into it replaces some old files and such. It also leaves some existent files alone. Along those that are left alone might be the file you are missing. I’m suggesting that you delete trillian entirely, download the normal trillian version, then getting 3.0 Alpha on top of that. On the slim chances of that working…well we’ll see.

ParticipantI have one complaint as of now. Just one.
It’s harder than it has to be to add new profiles. With my brother and sister randomly swiping my machine for their own use, it gets rather trying when I come back after a day and have 100 odd MSN people on my list that I don’t know, yelling at me and freaking out about “WHO RU!?!?!?111!!!eleven!?”(because they’re all teenage freaks who type in all caps and use slang). But yes…it took me a bit to get them both their own profiles…but it’s not impossible. Of course that being a minimal issue…*thumbs up* all around.

MemberHmm…a LAN Chat built-in? Wow. That could come in useful. Could you describe a little more in detail how to set it up/use it?

You go to plugins and add the Rendezvous one and it sets it up automatically for you.
I have been using Trillian 3 for a couple days now… Some things I don’t like are:
The history loaded into the conversation window automatically loads the entire last conversation (can take a long time to load if it was a long conversation) they seemed to have removed the option to only have it load a certain number of bytes. (I used to load about 10 lines worth just so I could get an Idea of what was talked about last, and not have the annoying load time windows have now). There is nolonger an option to customize the text you see. I used to set my font and the person I am talking to’s font and size so I could clearly see it all, and It could look the same for all users.. Now it only seems to allow colors that are sent to you, you cant change them.
It seems that Renamed screen names don’t seem to remember correctly… Sometimes they show up in the online section when not online, and sometimes they wont show up when they are online (doesn’t show up anywhere on the list but trying to add them says they are already there).
This is probably just a simple bug of the alpha i’m sure they will fix.I was all excited about the video added to trillian with this release, but with my testing so far.. It doesn’t seem to work very well, and that is when I can actually get it to start.
One thing I do like is the layout of the new prefrences window.. it seems much simplier to use.
The log viewer seems like it will be really nice when its done, You can view your logs much easier this way… It won’t load all my logs so I guess its still buggy. (It doesn’t seem to like renamed contacts very much)

I don’t see the Rendezvous option in the Plugins Preferencs at all…

MemberI found serious bugs in this. The main one was that when you right clicked on the trillian icon in the system tray and clicked “Exit” trillain would close but the icon would remain in the tray and the process would remain running, but if you right click on the sytem tray icon or hover your mouse over it all it says is “Trillian: Partially Connected” and would give no other options to connect.
The most annoying thing is that I can’t figure out how to turn off tabs.
Anyone actually been able to find a difference between Trillain 3.0 basic and Trillian 3.0 Pro, I can’t find anything (I’m on the 15 day trial)

MemberTo turn Tabs off: Preferences > Message Windows > “attach to container of Contact’s Group” Uncheck.
Edit: 500th Post! “We’re Makin’ History…”

MemberWhat I don’t like is that when ever I use trillian 3.0, my CPU usage jumps up to 40%. When I was running 2.0, I never had that problem. Also, what I don’t like is, if you have icon viewing on the buddy list and u have an alert set up for that person, the alert bell goes on top of the icon. yea I know..its a small problem. and i’m probably the only one who noticed…and yes its still in alpha….but little things like that irritate me. *needs to relax*.
And someguy there are many differences between pro and basic. in pro, u have time travelling (rewatch what u missed in video chat), history viewer, meta contacts, floating contacts, icon view, plugins, serverless IM, etc.

CPU/Memory usage in Trillian seems to be exactly the same for me as it was in Trillian 2 (0-1% CPU and around 11,000 Mem).
