KeymasterI got the email notice from Cerulean Studios today:
Quote:quote:Hello, This e-mail is being sent to notify you of your qualification to download Trillian Pro, the latest software package from Cerulean Studios. The real shocker for those of you used to free, free, free? Trillian Pro costs $25 bucks!
There is some good news. If you previously donated to support Trillian (as I had), you get Pro for free. If not, it’s $25 US.
So what’s new in Trillian Pro? I’ve only just installed it, but it appears to have a lot! Trillian has for a long time used XML extensively. Now you can add XML-based news feeds for headlines, stock quotes, etc. from Wired and other sources.
The interface has been greatly improved, with a lot of nice little touches. For example, when I clicked on a friend to send an IM, I saw my message history in the IM window for reference. It’s displayed in a gray color so that I know it’s from the past. A very nice little touch.
And here’s a cool feature… it works with Yahoo’s webcam! They’ve integrated the cam into the chat window to save desktop space.
You can find a complete list of features at the Cerulean web site.
Have you tried Trillian Pro? Post your impressions here.

MemberCan’t… get… metacontacts… to… work!!!
How the heck do you do it??? Please IM me, I’m an IDIOT or something!!September 11, 2002 at 11:54 pm #100725Jeff Hester
KeymasterMetacontacts are very cool. I’ve got a bunch of contacts who are are AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc. Metacontacts let’s me group them all and see them as one person (which of course, they are!).
To create a metacontact, just select multiple names on your contact list (CTRL-click), then right click and select “Create Meta Contact” from the pop-up menu. Voila!

MemberOkay, here’s a second question about metacontacts. I’ve made one, but I have no idea how to designate the primary contact medium for it! It seems to just default to Yahoo even if the user is available both Yahoo and ICQ.
How can I set the metacontact so it defaults to ICQ?
Thanks!
(Just for the record: Trillian is my daddy…)

MemberWhen you send a message to a MetaContact, it will select the first account in the MetaContact (if online). If the first account isn’t online, it will select the second account…
Just reorganize your buddies within the MetaContact to set which account to use first…
