Memberpantherpixie: Well spotted. I’ve put the updated URLs in Anna’s post near the top.
frozenfire: Well, “the best skin” is different for different people, that’s the point of skins. I can tell the the most popular skin for Trill free though, that’s the infamous Giger with an amazing half a million downloads.

MemberInstructions for installing Trillian Skins:
1. Download the .zip file.
2. Open it in WinZip.
3. Click the Extract… button.
4. To the left, MAKE SURE that the All Files option button AND the Use Folder Names check box are clicked.
5. To the right, find your Skins folder inside your Trillian folder. (DEFAULT:: C:Program FilesTrillianskins)
6. Just click on the skins folder, it will make its own sub-folders, just trust it.:)
7. Close WinZip and go into Trillian.
8. Go to Preferences…Skins…Load Skin Chooser.
9. Pick your skin.
10. Close Trillian (from the System Tray, also) and restart it.
11. Enjoy your new skin!May 14, 2004 at 12:28 am #65845Brian
MemberFrom what I can remember is when I would install Trillian skins, all I did was to drag the skin into the skins folder. Not needing WinZip to do the work for me.

Perhaps you used the zip folders built into windows ME/XP, or it was a .tsz and you’re using Trillian Pro 2. However, most skins still require you to unzip them and copy them to the skins folder, like Spike says.

MemberOK!
I’m trying to get new skins for my trillan but I seem to be doing somethign wrong. I tried doing all the suggestions already given but I seem to still be having problems. I downloaded the one I wanted and used winzip…….I extraced the files, but I’m lost after that…..I went back to the preferances and selected skins then launch skin chooser, but I only have one file there.
What am I doing wrong?May 28, 2004 at 5:56 pm #65848quietbritishjim

What am I doing wrong?Make sure you’ve extracted the skin to the right place. You can tell where a skin’s gone by looking for where its “trillian.xml” file went (this is a file that all skins have), and if it’s in the right place then all the other bits of the skin should be too. You should make sure its ended up in trillianskins, not trillianskins and not trillianskins.

As for AIM. AIM doesn’t have skins to my knowledge. What AIM does has is *expressions*. You can check out AIM Expressions.com.Actually, AIM does have skins but you will need Aimutation for the skins to work. And a site for AIM skins would be the Aimutation website or DeviantArt

The deviantart links have moved, they’re now:- Trillian 0.7x (free) – these skins work with Trillian Pro too, but some bits might not look right
- Trillian Pro 2.0 – some these will work on the free trillian too, but a lot won’t
- Trillian Pro 1.0 – superseded by Pro 2.0, but there’s lots of good stuff here
