MemberHello everyone. I love my trillian:D but admitedly, I’ve become a little bored with the default skin and so I downloaded the new MSN skin for trillian. I unzipped it and it’s installed in my computer, only trouble is….how in the world do I apply it to trillian? I clicked preferences, skins, and then searched for the MSN skin but it’s just not there!! What am I doing wrong? I am sooooo lost and frustrated:mad: Help please!! (lol, thanks:o )

MemberI’ve been using Trillian on and off for years.
I, too had the problem trying to figure how to get it to work for me. I was able to get one of the skin working for me, it is one of those Windows XP skins.
Reading the instructions at Trillian has not really helped much for me and SOME people I know.
Hope we’ll be able to get some help getting the skins to work for us.

MemberYeah, I have WinZip, but that doesn’t help to get the darn skins show up in preferences. I even tried everything I could think to get the skins show up. 🙂

KeymasterWhat version of Trillian are you running? If you look closely, you’ll see that some of the skins will ONLY work with Trillian Pro (the paid software).
Skins designed to work with the free version of Trillian will always work with the paid version, but not vice versa.

MemberBrian,
First, make sure the skin is in the right directory, if you have Trillian in the default location, it’s C:Program FilesTrillianskins
If you have the free version and the skin doesn’t show up in skin chooser, look for a folder named stixe. Stixe is an interface for Pro skins not supported in the free version. Stixe skins will not show up in the skin chooser of free versions.June 10, 2003 at 5:28 pm #62074LittleBuddy99

MemberI downloaded the new MSN skin too. I had a problem of getting the skins (there’s more than one skin for the MSN one [different colors for each one]) to show up in the skin launcher. Im not sure if this has been mentioned before but I’ll tell you my problem. My problem was that I unzipped the folders (blue, olive, classic messenger skins etc.) into the main folder (MSN Messenger — Windows XP) which was inside the skins one.
So it was like this:
TrillianskinsMSN Messenger — Windows XP[all the four MSN skins were in here]The right way to do it is like this…
Trillianskins[all the four skins in here. This is where the default skin is]Hope that helps 🙂

MemberIt might be worth me mentioning, the MSN skin does NOT work if you’re using ALL of these:
– Windows 95, 98 or ME (rather than 2000 or XP)
– Trillian 0.74 (rather than Pro)
– One of the luna versions of the skin (rather than the classic version)Any other combination of OS, Trillian and theme should work.
