Trying To Downgrade but getting a patch failure

Im trying to downgrade to the latest 5.2 version because 5.5 is a complete screw up lol and everytime I try and download an old version and reinstall it as the older version I get a Message saying I got a patch failure error. What do I do now?

try uninstalling aim completely (in control panel and add and remove programs) and then try to download it again.

Try installing it in the non-standard AIM folder.

Does the AIM folder still exist after you uninstalled 5.5? If so then delete it.

heres another choice You could download it again from this website http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=aim Scroll down about half way and pick which one you want
