I have the 5.5 beta (5.5.3501) and cannot prevent AIM Today from auto-loading. This is driving me crazy.
Help!!!!
Open AIM go under Perferences->Sign On/Off and uncheck the box beside Show AIM today window at sign on that will stop it from appearing everytime u startup AIM.
ladie, they are asking because that option has been removed from version 5.5.3501.. I have yet to find a way to turn it off in this version without add-ons.. anyone else know?
I will dump AIM if I cannot turn this off. I want a simple client with no junk.
You will have to hack your registry to fix this problem or just go to the current version of AIM 5.2 instead of the BETA version.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionUsersScreenName1Misc]
“ShowAimTodayWindow”=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionUsersScreenName2Misc]
“ShowAimTodayWindow”=dword:00000000
Thanks Tracer, that does work… I was looking for that option in the registry when I made my last note, because I had seen it there before… but couldn’t find it at the time:)
Stupid AIM and their millions of registry entries. hehe 😉

If you are using 5.5.3501, there is no longer any way to turn off the AIM Today window from appearing at sign on. If you’d like to request that this preference be added back, please submit a request here.
Bad mistake.
