On the new version of Aim 5.9 .3797 they took off the option to turn off the aim today window ..it pops up all the time and you cant turn it off..is anybody here having the same problem and have they been able to find a workaround ? please help..thanks
the easy answer: downgrade 😉
you /could/ try to find the dialog that creates the AIM today window in “AimRes.dll”. once you have found it delete it from the face of the earth. you will need a program called “Resource Hacker” (http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/, freeware). don’t let the name fool you, it is mostly used for non-lethal purposes.
if you upload your AimRes.dll file, i may be able to remove the dialog for you. although this would require you to have trust in me. hopefully you will make the right decision.
all this information is assuming that you can’t turn off the AIM today window. i do not use new AIM versions, so if someone else cannot stop the AIM today window from loading please post a follow up. 🙂
i know how to fix it:
Go to My Aim “Select useful tools”
Then click remove menu
Then go to pref. and go to “show aim.com at sign on” unclick it then sign off and sign on again the window wont be there anymoreA program called Messenger:Mate has an option to disable the AIM Today window upon sign on, but will still allow the AIM Today window to display when links such as SmartProfiles are clicked.

Aim Adhack 4.08 (http://aftermath.dyndns.org:8888/~aimadhack/) wil remove the AIM today window and many other features you can choose.

I followed the steps and the AIM Today window does not come up anymore. Much thanks to the guy who wrote this!!
