I might be the youngest member on here, but it never hurts to ask. Is there any one on here who reads the Twilight saga? I find the books quite interesting, or maybe it’s because I’m going through that phase of being a teen, reading everything else that I see a lot of people reading.
I’m on the second book right now; New Moon. Excellent, in my opinion. Such a great story and it kept my eyes stuck on the book. I never wanted to put the book down, even in the middle of the night, knowing I had to go to school the next morning.
I heard the third book, Eclipse, isn’t the best out of the four books. I kind of hope this isn’t true because I am one to stop reading a book if it doesn’t catch my attention in the first five chapters. However, I did read the first chapter of Eclipse and once again, I was hooked. I have to buy the next one this weekend. Can’t wait for it.
Anyone else into the saga?
May 15, 2009 at 5:13 am #174676YahooliganMemberHmmm… no takers it seems. I’ve seen’em at Barnes & Noble, and I’ve read articles about how the book series is wildly successful, but I haven’t read them nor seen the movie.

I’m tempted to read the book now though.

No, that’s not the skin of a killer. That’s the skin of Miss Gay SE Minnesota. (And yes, that is a real drag queen title, not a gay joke)
I hear the books are interesting to say the least, but honestly, I think I’m probably just a little too old fashioned when I expect darkness, intrigue, blood and…darkness. Yes, I say it twice because I feel that having a book about a creature allergic to sunlight, that the creature should be…allergic to sunlight.
I’m all for bending the rules a little, but much like the Declaration of Independence, there are certain truths we hold to be self-evident, that all vampires and creatures of the dark are created equal so they don’t look silly, and they should be endowed by their author with certain unalienable Rights. Such as, the right to blood, lurking in the shadows and not looking like a pixie/drag queen.*
There are plenty of rules that I’m willing to waver on. The religious thing? Sure. The silver allergy? Sure. The turning into a bat or wolf or whatever? Sure. But I’m just a little put off when I hear vampires playing baseball in the day because ‘well it’s overcast!’ No. I’m sorry. No.
I kind of feel this way about it.

Honestly, I’m sure they’re fine books, in a Harry Potter kind of way, since they are made for younger adults. I get it. I just like my vampires more skewed toward the realm of The Lost Boys or something. SPEAKING OF!

September 16, 2009 at 3:49 am #174672Jeff HesterKeymasterI haven’t read or seen the Twilight stuff, but I have enjoyed HBO’s True Blood. No, not kid-safe, but amusing. And Sami, the True Blood vampires start burning up in the sunlight.
September 17, 2009 at 10:52 am #174674RabidKittenParticipantMy mother and brother introduced me to True Blood when I went back home last month. Completely awesome, though the accents throw me a little bit. It’s wild. I heard that the finale was kind of a let down, though I haven’t seen. Unfortunate!
