I know that you can run more than one msn messenger at the same time, and I know about trillian, but is there any way other than that to just run multiple yahoo messengers at the same time?
December 5, 2002 at 7:22 pm #65896FanaticMemberIt used to be an easy thing to do; just run the full Yahoo Messenger program with one account and the Java version with another. I just tried it, and it looks like they have changed the Java version. If it detects that you’re running Windows, it refuses to connect and tells you to install and run the full version.
Can someone else running Windows test this and let me know if you can connect with the Java version?

i`v done well …:DDecember 8, 2002 at 6:36 am #65903sciencefeelingMemberYes, but that has a little problem that I don’t think she likes, that is, that you don’t have different buddy lists. What I mean is that the moment you log on with one ID everybody that has other IDs of you know you are on…cause it associates it to the same e-mail address, and it activates all the IDs (I know cause I tried)…SO, you are online with different IDs BUT you cannot have different contac lists..everybody knows you are online.
I don’t know the reason why you want to be with different screen names but if it is for “confidentiallity issues”, I don’t think this will work…
Now, if you want to freak your friends out…or just have some people see other name, yes it will work…but they will all have access to the same e-mail address…
Just to clarify that point, I am going to do some research about the other stuff (somebody with more experience and knowledge is probably going to answer before I finish my research)December 8, 2002 at 5:00 pm #65902sciencefeelingMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by FanaticIt used to be an easy thing to do; just run the full Yahoo Messenger program with one account and the Java version with another. Hi!!
Your wishes are my orders Fanatic!!!
It DOES WORK for me!!, I am running WinXP and it allows me to open the java version. I tried with the same yahooID and with different ones,..and i found no problem whatsoever.
No idea why is that it allows me and not you…(though some might say is the “pretty girl syndrom” lets blame it on that (yep, it is INDEED a bad joke…).
My only guess were your java settings in the browser…but i don’t think that is it…Have a good Sunday!!!

July 29, 2004 at 10:18 pm #65906boredprogrammerMemberOk I know of a way to run multiple versions of yahoo messenger. The big catch to this is that you can’t use the newest version of Yahoo messenger. If you’re using the newest version of yahoo then uninstall it. Then download the 5.0 Version from the link below.

Make sure you exit out of yahoo before running the patch. Once you the patch has run simply double click on the Yahoo! shortcut for as many instances as you want to run. Need help then contact me.
July 29, 2004 at 10:38 pm #65895Jeff HesterKeymasterOr you could try using multigold…. It enables you to run all of your yahoo sn names at once yes, even if they are on different messengers… you will find the download for it at Here
good luck.
July 29, 2004 at 11:25 pm #65905shifterMemberWow, we dug this topic up out of the grave huh. 2002 is a long time ago. We have numerous, more recent topics out there with links to patches for all versions of Yahoo. Thanks for trying though boredprogrammer. I’m going to put this topic out to pasture and lock it. 🙂
