1. Is this legit? When I log onto my Yahoo IM, I get a message:
System: Your contact is using Windows Live™ (MSN) Messenger, and wants to add you to his or her Messenger List. To start sharing instant messages, you’ll first need to sign up for the Yahoo! Messenger Beta program.
It doesn’t tell me which contact on my list is asking me. Is there a way of finding out? There is a link to click, but until I know for sure if anybody has had this on their IM, I won’t click the link…Just incase it’s spam or a virus.
2)I use Window’s 98. Does this new YM Beta work with 98? Or do I have to upgrade my whole system to a more recent version of Windows?
Thanks in advance!
July 16, 2006 at 8:17 pm #148139shifterMember- This is legit – see this news post – Yahoo and Microsoft IM Interoperability Arrives. MSN and Y!M can now talk to each other! (I don’t think you can find out who’s trying to add you until you’re using a compatible version of Y!M)
- According to this, the new beta should be compatible with Windows 98, so go ahead and give it a whirl!
July 17, 2006 at 5:38 pm #148140Mac_BlueMemberThanks for answering! I actually ended up downloading the Beta lastnight.
I posted a question in the WLM section, but I’ll ask here too. Does WLM have the same feature as Yahoo when it comes to being invisible? Showing online to some, and offline to others? Or do you have to block them or put them on ignore?
Just curious. A friend of mine thinks she’s being put on block but she has checked to see if the person is blocking her, and they aren’t, yet some see that other friend online, and some don’t, even though they aren’t showing as blocked. (Can’t remember the program that shows who has blocked you on their list.) -
