My home network is too big for one, four-port router. I have four PCs wired, a wireless laptop and wireless PDA. I have two router, one with wireless capability. My problem is that I cannot get file and printer sharing to work across the two network segments. The internet works for both, but I really need to enable file and printer sharing.
The configuration is pretty straightforward. The cable modem is hooked to the Linksys router, and the Netgear wireless router is hooked to the Linksys.
Any recommendations?

– See if your second router can be put in ‘bridging’ or ‘switching’ mode
– Use a switch or hub instead of the second routerLess easy, but also very efficient solutions:
– Access the computers by IP address and not by name (\192.168.0.7 instead of \JeffLaptop)
– Set up a WINS serverMay 10, 2005 at 10:54 pm #121567DavidParticipantIt probably has less to do with WINS, and more to do with the NAT separating the secondary subnet from the main subnet. Netgear can run as a switch…somehow, but you’re better off with a new switch.
May I recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817201104
$15, 8 ports, works great. I’m currently using one of these on the 100Mbit section of my network.
