when I am chatting in a room, my type becomes invisible in a matter of minutes. I had 6.0 and uninstalled it, reinstalled 5.0, and I get the same thing. does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have xp and use ytunnel, but ytunnel doesn’t seem to be the problem. I know 3 other people with this same problem and we can’t figure out why this is happening.
Ideas anyone?
ThanksSeptember 25, 2004 at 5:47 am #37664rafaelemtMemberI had the same problem a couple of months ago and it cleared all by itself. It seems to be some glitch in Yahoo’s side. So in the mean time you can maybe use a chat client like Yahelite or similar.

September 25, 2004 at 6:19 am #37666grinchMemberThanks for your response Rafaelemt – I am so frustrated with that, that I did try to go to yahElite to dl that prog. When I click on the link to dl from their site it boots me out of Internet Explorer! Not having much luck right now.
September 26, 2004 at 8:29 pm #37668dan-i-amMemberHi,
I read something about this a while ago and I believe it’s the answer to the problem. I read that the new Messenger has implemented a text filter that limits the amount of text you can send with non-standard fonts.
The reason I believe this, is I would constantly lose text after a while when using the “Comic Sans MS” font if I sent several messages within a short timespan. I have now changed to a standard Arial Black font and have not had one problem since (about 3 weeks now).
It seems that in an effort to make your chat experience more enjoyable, they want to limit the custom fades and font effects; however they seem to be way too restrictive.
The next time this happens, try changing your font to Arial and type again and see if it shows up. This usually worked for me. If it does, then you know what the problem is.
Let me know if this works for you. I am not completely sure if this “filtering” is really sure but so far, based on my experiences, it seems like a credible and plausible explanation.

October 14, 2004 at 12:36 am #37671watchman_2b2MemberLook at my 3 posts in last 2 days. Is it the same problem that you have?
I am talking to Yahoo Customer support. No luck so far. BTW, does yahelite (or watever the correct name is) allow u to use yahoo web cams too? and chat rooms?
Thanks a lot. I would be very interested in finding out the solution to your problem. Please post it here when you fix it. ThanksOctober 24, 2004 at 5:59 pm #37672BuddhaSmileMemberGrinch, which site were you trying to download YahELite from? I have not heard of anyone having trouble when downloading from the homepage or one of the official mirrors.
In google searching there are many sites that claim to offer YahELite, but the versions are at best out of date and some MIGHT have been tweaked.
YahELite’s homepage is at http://yahelite.org

You can view web cams and use chat rooms with yahelite and it has much better boot protectionOctober 24, 2004 at 6:11 pm #37673BuddhaSmileMemberYahoo seems to be giving a text ban to chatters who send many posts into the room in a short amount of time. This will often create a text ban which will last several minutes.
If you are experiencing text bans, posting longer posts less frequently might help.
Chat client users can post in ‘thought mode’ until the text ban is lifted and then go back to the regular style.
October 25, 2004 at 1:56 pm #37667grinchMemberHi Buddha-The problem I had with yahElite worked itself out, that was a temporary problem. I am still having major problems with invisible ink or ‘caspering’ as someone put it. I am going to open a new thread of yahoo most recent variations on that. Thx!
