Unsure if firewall or other issue

Hi all:
I’m hoping someone here can help me :confused: I have msn 7.0 messenger and windows 2000 professional… arghhh, anyways, I have an issue that seems impossible to fix. When signing into msn the signing in confirmation icon spins and spins then just before my contacts list will show, it disconnects and says lost connection, reconnecting in t-45 seconds and counting… This will go on for a period of time ranging anywhere form 45 minutes-3 hrs. I looked at the firewall issue, I tried the regedit suggestion, cannot find nor create a server key… I’m not even sure if windows 2000 has a firewall built in :confused: … If i’m not posting in proper area, would someone please be so kind as to redirect me? This is my first post…. tyvm
