I have XP already, and i was just wondering if there was an update that I could buy or somethin I could download that would let me upgrade to Windows XP Media Centre. I think their both pretty much the same thing, Media Centre just has a few more features and it looks cooler too.
Just wonderin…
i’m not really sure what else media center has to offer… the few machines i’ve seen with MC are built to be media machines – decked out with connections for everything you can think of. you can hook up TVs, VCRs, etc etc to them. i’m not sure what kind of upgrade you could get that would do much, but then again i dont really know what MC has over regular XP
I do know that most Dell machines come with the “Dell Media Experience” which looks just like Media Center. It’s basically just a fluffed up jukebox program as far as i can tell… i dont really use it much… like ever. winamp works just fine for me, thanks.
so, final opinion from me… not worth it, even if there is an upgrade somewhere you could buy (very little from microsoft is simply downloadable)
You have to buy it, and frankly it’s not worth the money(~$200 last I checked was the price). Spend money on more useful software/hardware.

$134 USD, full version.
I have it, it came with my sony. Its pretty nice how you can pause and record live tv. To upgrade you would need to buy somethings such as a tuner for your computer and a remote and remote receiver for your computer.
