I was just wondering if you were on your own screen name and you wanted to view what somebody else has said to other people..is that possible? Please help me in any way possible!
well I believe “Buddy Spy” is also an invasion of privacy, and people practically stalk others by using that program, so why not be able to see what other people have typed to their friends?

No, Buddy Spy doesn’t let you view other people’s webcams or conversations, it only let’s you see if they are truly online or using a cam. In that sense it is a VERY different thing.
If I learn that BuddySpy does allow you to view conversations or webcams without permission, I’ll remove reference of it from this site. That would clearly cross the line.
And to answer your question directly, no it is not possible to eavesdrop on someone else’s instant messages… thank God!
But you are stalking them since you know when they are on/offline & where they are (i.e. chatrooms). You can basically follow them wherever they go and watch every move to where they go.. that is a very serious crime in today’s world!

Mod_swat, I am thinking about the law. In fact, I’d like to hear from an attorney on this issue.
Knowing whether someone is online or not is not the same as stalking. In fact, with other instant messengers like AIM and MSN, it’s not possible to hide the fact that you’re online at all. If you are chatting, you appear online to anyone who knows your screenname.
Similarly, if you are visiting public chat rooms, you can be observed by anyone else visiting those same chat rooms. There is no “privacy” because they are PUBLIC chat rooms. Yahoo! Messenger even used to allow you to “follow” another user from one room to another (they removed this capability from their more recent releases). While programs like BuddySpy make this possible, it’s only helping you observe what is already publicly observable.
I’m not defending BuddySpy. I’ve never used the program, and I don’t have a desire to. But by the same token, I don’t really care who knows whether I’m online or not, or what chat room I’m in, or even whether I’m using my webcam. What I do care about is that when I’m in a private conversation with another individual (i.e. NOT a public chat room), that conversation remains private.
Yes, it is possible that the other party could log the conversation and share it with someone else, and yes there are keyloggers and other programs that will monitor and record keystrokes, but I don’t worry about them. Why? First, I trust the people that I talk to regularly, and second, I’m not ashamed of what I say.
Well, Jeff, they do not call this Yahoo! Instant Messenger for no reason. If they wanted to keep all of this private, they could make a new program called “Yahoo! Private Messenger” so that you don’t have to worry about as you said PUBLIC!
There is a reasonable expectation that when I have a private conversation with another person, whether on the telephone, or via instant message, it remains a private conversation.
Conversely, when I have a conversation in a public chat room, there is no expectation of privacy.
Yahoo doesn’t need to call it “private messenger” because privacy is implied. Same with your phone, cell phone, email, and snail mail.
Jeff, you can always tap the phone wires.. and privacy is not implied since it is easy to maintain other people’s information and recieve their webcam conversations without their consent. What you don’t see is that no matter where you go, your information can be obtained by somebody you don’t even know. Even on this website, you all have my IP Address which is something I want to keep private. Now I do not feel like this is a safe website..now what am I going to do? I can’t do anything but I still look at it as an invasion of privacy. Now back to MY topic of how to view others’ conversations.. don’t even tell me there’s no way you could possibly do that.

You cannot tap a phone line legally. The same wiretap laws that protect phone conversations have also been applied to instant messaging.
It is not “easy to receive their webcam conversations without consent.”
And likewise, you cannot view conversations without permission. Stop asking. You will not find out how to break the law here at BigBlueBall.
I just have 1 more question for you, Jeff.. are you gay? Cuz I’m a little horny right now & could use some1 like you to help me with my..uhhh…computer…yeah computer problems!
