ParticipantHearing that http://www.listen-to.com was closing down, I took there advice and checked out some alternatives. The one that caught my eye was at ViralSound.com. They have a huge selection of usermade images for signatures as well as the ability to upload your own. This Audioplayer plugin is available for Winamp 2.x, 3.x and 5.x, Windows Media Player, Foobar 2000, and QCD.
Check out the available images in there gallery here.
Register for your ViralSound image and download the appropriate plugin for your player. Next go to your Start Menu > All Programs > ViralSound.com > Configure ViralSound.com Engine and enter in your username and password. Don’t forget to check off the Enable box.
You may need to open and close your mediaplayer to get the plug-in to load correctly. Start playing some music and if your plugin connects successfully you will get a message window telling you you’ve connected for the first time. There isn’t much for instructions on the site, but this should get you started at least.

ParticipantLooks awesome. Me likes how you used your offline message to promote your site… cool thinking 😉

ParticipantUnfortunately for those who did not act on this earlier, the service is now temporarily closed to new users. Those who managed to register are still able to use there ViralSound Signatures as usual. I know I certainly prefer a service that doesn’t overload itself with users and force frequent downtime from the service. Keep your eyes open though, I’m sure it will be available again soon.

MemberDamn it! Just when I was about to sign up too. I like that you can make your own grafix for those. Well just gotta check back in a week or so I guess. The Listen-to site suggest AudioScrobbler (which seems to be down) and Gerpok as well. Anyone got any other recommendations?

ParticipantGerpok is the ex-Audio-Tracker. It can be a pain if you end up with a bad host, but nonetheless it’s one to look into. AS is a music tracking profile. It doesn’t display your images for signatures, etc but rather you have a profile, and you can link to it and view what they listened to.
Out of the two, Gerpok is the better choice IMO.
