I applogize if I should not me posting this here, but I felt you should all know about this. There is a worm virus going around, it affects Windows XP, 2000, and NT. Go tohttp://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp They instruct you on how to protect yourself from it, and how to get rid of it if you already have. CNN also has 2 articles about this worm on there site…if you are that curious and want to read them.

Note: This doesnt patch your computer from the virus so you are open to another attack if you dont get the windows update.
I still suggest you get the windows patch that prevents the virus from infecting you computer because it can easily come back Even though it speed dropped 40% in one day.
From how I read it….yes. It all depends on how recent it is, and if the software you use participates in Microsoft Virus Infomation Alliance (VIA). But I could be wrong, it has been known to happen 🙂
It is a trojan, it must be downloaded, not in the form of a cookie, it usually is implated in other software. The only two other ways you can get the virus other than downloading it along with something else are: viewing a message with the virus in Microsoft Outlook, and some one has found a way to do this in Kazaa without you downloading files.
