Hi all 🙂
Its been a long time since I’ve posted regularly on BBB actually I was in a few troubles but now everything is fine. But I missed BBB members and BBB during all that time. 🙂
Friends, my work PC ( Yes I’ve got a job :D) is got infected with some sort of virus that is continiously deleting files on PC with .JPG, .GIF, .3GP, .DAT, . WAV extensions. Today it also deleted all the shortcuts to different programs on desktop.
I’m working in a mobile reparing shop and my job is to install software to Cell phones, download data, flashing, unlocking, code breaking etc. That all evil process started two weeks back when I copied data to a Mobile Memory Card, at first I have seen shortcuts on random places in my PC that I’ve not made. System slowed down and then file deleting process started, then further to deletion of shortcuts and finally corruption of security softwares.:crying:
I’ve re-installed operating system several times using backup, that backup is cleared from any kind of infection as it is 2 months old, system works fine after re-installation for a few hours and then all that evil process starts. I’ve also scanned with updated anti-virus, scanned with spyware removel tools but no avail. Neither any virus nor any suspicious process detected.
I’m using Windows XP SP2, AVG Professional 7.1, ZoneAlarm Pro version:6.5.722.000
TrueVector version:6.5.722.000
Driver version:6.5.722.000
Anti-spyware engine version:5.0.36.0
Anti-spyware signature DAT file version:01.200608.315
and Ad-Aware SE, Spy-Kill Deluxe Edition, Spyware Serach & Destroy.I’ve lost valuebale data and work hours solving this problem but… :crying: Finally now I’ve decided to re-partition the hard-drive, re-install every software, copy all the data again and that all will eat up 10 to 12 hours. 🙁
…But I’m still afraid of being getting infected in future. :crying:
Please feel free to write any kind of suggestion, tip or solution that will work for me. Any help regarding this will be greatly apprecited.August 31, 2006 at 3:43 pm #151441CarriemeawayplzMemberI’m not an expert, but I have a few suggestions..
First, go into start, run , msconfig, see if anything new is placed in the startup tab that might be causing the problem. If you find a program has been downloaded or something suspicious in your startup tab, first google the program and make sure it is not something you truly need and that it is something to be concerned about, try to delete it ( add / remove programs) , if it will not delete or you are having problems deleting it go into safe mode and delete it from there .
It could be another problem, something that you recently downloaded that is causing the conflict or you may have a virus. Another suggestion is this, download and scan with spybot search and destroy , lavasofts adware, webroot spy sweeper. If after using these, if they find the problem follow their instructions, if they find nothing but you continue having problems, I would try to roll the computer back to a time when you knew there wasn’t a problem, precisely 2 weeks ago.
Your last resort is to do a total format.
I would also like to suggest ( you probably already know this but it bares repeating ) please remember when you download something before you put it on any removable drive, before you open it. Always save it to your desktop and scan it with an antivirus software or spyware. It will save you worlds of anguish in the end.
September 3, 2006 at 8:14 am #151442shergillMemberIt does seems to be work of virus name win32.pinfi.Try the micosoft august virus removal tool.It is just 3.3 mb of size.Just run it and it will delete all the virus infected file(it does not repair any file). You can download it from
Otherwise use norton antivirus that will remove the virus win32.pinfi after removing the virus with norton plz uninstall that damn **** coz it slows down the computer much.
Hope it will work for you.
