Unfortunately, voice is one of those tricky (read: proprietary) things for now. Each messenger client has their own way of implementing voice. If you want to voice chat with an AIM user, you’ve got to use AIM also, and so on.

Kinda figured as much. I guess that (and web-cam-ability) will be the next big step for IM interoperability. I guess it takes a lot of convincing for the developers to “LET IT GO!”…they’d get many more users if they didn’t try to keep a stranglehold on the market share.
Imagine if Nokia phone owners could only call other Nokia phones? The Norwegian telecommunications company would have gone belly up before they got off the ground. The idea is, agree on a standard, and there is more that enough market share for EVERYONE.
I do prefer Odigo, though, for the interoperability. Sure beats having multiple icons in my system tray, sucking all those resources. One problem with NetDetect, but I’ll make a new post for that.
But I thought of another interoperability question: Can I open an Odigo (or Trillian) Chat Room and invite AIM and MSN buddies? I’m guessing I’m pretty much out of luck here, too…DAMN, DIRTY AIM!
Hmmm, I’m not so sure about that I recall that had Nokia not shared some technology then there would be less communcations companies selling phones n even SMS would not be an item on computers.
