Hey is there a way I can warn someone up to 100 without going like “5, 10, 15 ,20” but like from zero to 100???
August 14, 2003 at 2:07 pm #91922Jeff HesterKeymasterNo, thank God. One person cannot warn another up to 100%. This is a safeguard to prevent you from spitefully locking someone out from using AIM. If the person really is a pest, other people will warn him, too. At least, that’s the theory.
August 14, 2003 at 4:20 pm #91938darkc0neMemberLike jeff said..thank god.Cuz then if u had the time you could almost shut someone down.and with some of the people i know that wouldnt be good.It would make those strange random warnings even more annoying.
August 14, 2003 at 5:06 pm #91935westcostchopprsMemberwell i was wonderin caus i have alot of people warning me up to 100 all the time and that is REALLY ANNOYING!!!!
August 14, 2003 at 6:24 pm #91930TigerbladeParticipantyeah the warning thing can get out of hand if you have the wrong people talking to you… i know cause a few of my friends and i used to get into “warning wars” – basically we’d warn each other back and forth for no reason whatsoever, until one or both of us couldnt type… yeah i know it was stupid, what can i say 🙁 but the idea is to ONLY warn someone if they’ve done something that deserves a warning… otherwise… yeah

That’s why AIM has the block feature. Or you could get new friends that are more mature than warning people up to 100% just for the hell of it.
August 14, 2003 at 7:30 pm #91929BrdMc3Memberpersonally i think the warning idea is dumb,i mean if you warn someone up to 10% it doesnt do anything so like why even have it,its not that often some 1 gets over 50%!
August 14, 2003 at 8:39 pm #91937darkc0neMemberI agree. The only thing warning REALY helps with is slowing down the spam bots.I get them all the time and i dont even go in the premade chatrooms.:mad:Must …kill…spam bots

Tell them to grow up and get a life.
When someone warns you – Ignore any IMs from people you don’t know for a few hours…
August 14, 2003 at 9:50 pm #91933westcostchopprsMemberhey i never thought of that!!! thanks David!!!! thats good!

How come all you people get spammed, porn bots, etc. via AIM? I never get it, not that I want to either. But, why? What is it that you are doing wrong? 😀 Do you visit chatrooms and stuff alot? Is that why?
August 15, 2003 at 4:06 am #91932westcostchopprsMemberwell even if u go 2 a chat room one time EVEN ONCE u will get a porno bot thingy
August 15, 2003 at 4:37 am #91925DavidParticipantI get porn bots sometimes… I only go to Invited chats, not the others that are full of bots. I think there is no real way to stop them…Hell, AOL might have a deal with advertisers for IM spam (They are AOHELL you know…)
Alrthough, if you go into a chatroom, it’s very likely you will be spammed much, much more.
The only solution is to set AIM to not allow others to IM you if they aren’t on your buddy list. I don’t use this because I get IMs from new people all the time.
My AIM –> Edit Options –> Edit Preferences –> Privacy –> Select “Allow only users on my Buddy List”
August 15, 2003 at 4:09 pm #91923KPK102MemberI am glad there isn’t a thing to warn someone up too 100%, I mean I agree with David, but I get IM’ from people and plus some people change there screen name like every month, and I hate that.
