MemberHello,
I used to have win2000 on my pc, now I´m with XP.
MSN worked just find with the older windows.. voice and sound conferece and stuff. Now I am having a problem with my webcam.. Everytime I try to use it a black scrren appears..
I read in some forums that a codec named k-lite could help with this kind od problem, I´ve istalled it but nothing changed =(
If someone have another way that may help me, plz, write me on my email (brunarobinson@hotmail.com) or leave the answer here.
thanks

MemberI often have the same problem too.
I have most of the latest common codecs installed, (xvid, dixv, etc), although I have never heard that it might be a codec problem.
I am under the impression that it is more a problem of port forarding. I know that my Alcatel Pro ADSL Router has an issue with port forwarding. According to http://www.hypothetic.org/docs/msn/client/invitation_types.php, MSN uses ports 13455, 16253, and 55039 for voice and video. Using a port logger on my client, I found that issues occur when using 55039 on my computer. Might be a coincidence, since I have not tested it fully, however, it leads me to further believe my theory with this issue.A temportary solution I have found is to restart the video/audio conversation.
EDIT: a ‘more in depth’ google search brought up this: http://ask-leo.com/archives/000023.html

MemberI really can’t see why Kazaa Lite would be linked to such a problem. Have we all tried things such as reinstalling the webcam drivers and such?
And if you think that K-Lite caused your problem, wouldn’t the obvious solution be to uninstall it, and see if the problem continues? I would imagine you can do that via Add/Remove programs.
Also, jasongor, watch your language please, obcenities are against our forum policies. Thanks.

October 31, 2004 at 11:53 am #77245jasongor
MemberThat’s exactly the problem
Kazza Lite lead to MSN black screen2 solutions for that
1) uninstall K-Lite
2) Format your disc and re-install window (this is wht I did)March 3, 2005 at 9:08 pm #77246czarl
MemberI have another solution to this….the solution that worked for me was to plug my webcam directly to an onboard USB slot…previously it was plugged into a PCI slot with 4 USB ports on it.
hope this helps.
