MemberI’ve tried viewing my own webcam using two yahoo accounts at the same time, and when I try to view a Yahoo broadcasted feed with Trillian 1, I only get a black screen on Trillian, and when I try it the other way around it’s all in black/white and awfully pixilated on Yahoo IM.
I hope the Trillian team will get that fixed because right now the webcam feature completely useless [v]
Oh, by the way, I think it’s caused by the JPG2000 compression of the images that the latest Yahoo messenger uses (which enables “Super Mode” if you’re on DSL/Cable or a faster connection) while Trillian still uses the “old” webcamming feature Yahoo used to use.
Nice smilies by the way Jeff 😉 They look somewhat familiar [:P]

KeymasterI think the webcam feature in Trillian 1 wasn’t really ready for prime time, because I haven’t been able to get it working either (though the “real” Yahoo Messenger works just fine). When I get an invitation to view a webcam, all I ever see is a black screen in Trillian’s webcam area. And I haven’t been able to send even a crappy image like the one you described.
The few times that I’ve wanted to use it, I’ve had to login with Yahoo (which I have on my computer, along with a zillion other messengers!).
For those of you who were wondering, the smileys you’re enjoying as well as the formatting buttons in the new topic form are courtesy of http://www.Frutzle.com (thanks, Roland!!)
I’ll have to put together a proper thank-you when things settle down with the new design and I catch up with the changes.

MemberThat black window you described is that I get too when I view a webcam on Trillian that is sent out with Yahoo. It might be due to something found on http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/webcams/webcams-20.html
I couldn’t find anything else on Yahoo’s site about black screens or anything else that might be of help for this topic. Makes sense seeing how the problem isn’t with Yahoo but Trillian and their interaction. On the Trillian support forums this problem with the webcams has been reported a couple times (I just checked) and it does seem to be related to Yahoo changing the compression for the webcam stream.

MemberWell at least you can get ur cam to the point of seeing a blank screen.
Mine wont even Initialize. Ive tried all sorts of different things, it works perfectly with Yahoo but something about Trillian it just doesnt like, i think its because Trillian only supports one type of Cam driver and if ur not using that one with ur cam it just wont go.April 9, 2003 at 2:27 pm #100222Schattenjager
MemberThe webcam thing is still buggy, ang IMO wasn’t really ready yet. I get teh same thing with trying to view a Yahoo cam but fine with a Trill cam. I do know they are still working on it though.. 😀
