ParticipantHi I’ve viewed friends cams and they’ve viewed mine with no problems….apart from them freezing every now and then. However in the past couple of weeks whenever I view a particular friends cam, after a couple of minutes I can see myself where I should be seeing them….and the same happens to them. It’s never happened with anybody else…just this particular friend….and nobody we’ve spoke to has heard of it or can help us…I’ve emailed yahoo…but just got the standard reply which was no help at all….you are my last resort…please help!!!!!

MemberNow thats strange.
I would check this friends settings under the preferences. The closer the settings match the better.
Although I have never heard of this problem before I would start with the basics such as how both of you line up with your connections and webcam settings. if theirs is different and since you only have this problem with them have them change theirs to match yours.
A question may be asked if this friend has the same issues with others they cam with. because this problem could be no fault of your own. I am thinking it is their problem because you stated yours works fine with everyone else.

ParticipantHi William
They also have no problems with any of their other friends, but I will certainly check our settings. And you’re right…it is very strange!!…Thank you for replying.

MemberI had the same thing happen to me last night with someone i was chatting and camming with. This has never happened before with anyone. I have not had a chance to see if it is with all people or just this one. I will try to replicate this with others. I would like to know what happened or is happening so I can fix this problem. Btw I am up to date in all software and various spyware adware trojan virus scanners all come up clean.

ParticipantAs bad as it sounds I’m glad that it’s happened to someone else too….when we talk to ppl about this problem they look at us as if we’re mad!!….touch wood it hasn’t happened for a couple of days now…but that doesn’t mean that it won’t happen again…there’s no rhyme or reason to when it happens…some days are fine and then other days it happens…still not got to the bottom of it tho 🙁 If you discover a solution would love to know 🙂

ParticipantThe same happened to me recently while I was on webcam with 2 friends, their images freezed after a minute, I moved the mouse over and they became active again. By watching the status line at the bottom of the webcam window I got the feeling that it got to do with the Idle status but I got to tried with longer Idle setting.

KeymasterAneagle When your viewing cams and they freeze, but when you move the mouse over to unfreeze then. This meens you went “Idle”
I set my messenger to never go Idle becouse of that.
The problem with viewing your cam were you friends cam should be, I have never seen it but heard of it a few times before.

MemberDo you use any anti-banners for Yahoo! Messenger? If you do, that is what may be causing problem. In registry entries, people usually replace “webcam viewer ad big” and “webcam viewer ad bid” with “*”. And that is just what makes camera freeze. If you use that advert-removing registry keys, simply open the reg file and instead of “*”, type any non-existing URL next to “webcam viewer ad big” and “webcam viewer ad bid”. Like “http://noads.htm”, and it should prevent camera from freezing. That is, of course, if your problem is related to registry keys, and you use reg file to remove banners. If no, the source of the problem is somewhere else. I only know that many people have problems with freezing camera because of this “*” in the registry file that they use to remove banners.

ParticipantIf that was the case it would effect everybody that used the *
However it didn’t, and since the connection to the ad server and the cam server are completely different how a dead link acts in a ie form window would not effect it.
However to cover it anyways the ad remove i posted has changed to calling blank.html.
so if it is the case they can just run it again.
