February 9, 2007 at 2:49 pm #157828Nadia26MemberMy friends got the same problem….
We’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling msn, but still its not possible for us to see contacts once the connection has been established….Though they can see us!!!!!:(
Going bald from pulling my hair, trying to figure out what is wrong…..
Anyone please please help, before we go loco!:woot:February 10, 2007 at 6:51 pm #157825Jeff HesterKeymasterA couple things will help us debug this problem.
First let us know what version of MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger you are running (you can find this by going to Help > About in the contact list), and your operating system (XP, Vista, etc.). It may be helpful to know the same for your friend.
Also, there are two methods for sharing webcams in Windows Live Messenger. You can do either share your webcam (which each party must do — it doesn’t automatically send on both ends) or place a “video call.” It’s important to know which you are attempting to help debug, and it may be useful for you to try both options to see if one works but not the other.
From Murdoc’s description, it sounds like he’s trying to place a video call. The first thing I would try is having your friend share his webcam (not a video call) and see if you see anything. Normally WLM will first send you a message in the chat windows saying that your friend wants to send their webcam. Click “Accept.” The WLM changes the chat window, replacing the display pics with a larger area for the webcam. Initially, you’ll get an advertisement for some Logitech product, and then you’ll see your friend’s webcam.
Try that and report back exactly what happens when they share their webcam. Do you get a request to accept their webcam? Does the chat window change? Do you get the Logitech advertisement?
We need to know exactly at what point things are failing.

Sorry for not being specific enough…:o
The version is the latest Messenger Live….
We tried both video call and the other thingy…. Still we’re not able to see our contact after the connection has been established, just keeps saying loading:rolleyes: , though they can see us.
We tried switching accounts, and same problem occured on my computer with his msn account, though he was able to see me when using my account.
So we’re pretty sure its got something to do with his msn…. We’ve tried re-downloading it 3 times now…
I hope that explained it….
love
NadiaFebruary 28, 2007 at 12:47 pm #157832PenzilneckMemberI seem to have the exact same problem. It doesn’t matter what type of WLM I’m using, doesn’t matter who sends or recieves, doesn’t matter if it’s sharing a cam or a video call. It just won’t work, so now you know it’s more than just one incident of the problem
March 11, 2007 at 10:41 pm #157830Nadia26MemberMy boyfriend just downloaded the newest version, and guess what?
its started doing it to him too! Now he cant see me anymore, eventhough i can see him. his display of me just keeps saying loading:mad:Jeff….pleeeeeeeease help:crying:
March 12, 2007 at 8:25 am #157827PhilipModeratorHi guys:
I’m not a webcam expert, but I’m beginning to suspect that the problem might not be at the user end, but with WLM’s servers, since quite a number of people are reporting about this. Sharing a webcam is exactly that-both the sender and the recipient should be able to see each other.
Try just using audio to see whether you can establish a link with your recipient. In WLM it’s in Actions > Call a contact’s computer. Give the video problem a miss for a day or two, and try doing it again.
March 12, 2007 at 12:01 pm #157831Nadia26MemberThanks Philip:)
But with my other friend it has never worked….
Audio calls though arent a problem.Got an email from the microsoft support thingie, and those ***** told me to just download the latest version of WLM:mad:
