I’ve seen some similar posts, but none of them seem to address my issue. I was hoping that somebody might be able to shed a little bit of light on the subject.
Any time I attempt to view any webcam, the webcam window opens, says “connecting…” at the bottom and then says “reconnecting…” at the bottom then a message pops up saying there was a network error connecting to the server. I get a similar error when trying to broadcast my webcam.
I’m running Windows XP with Windows Firewall enabled on a laptop, connected wirelessly through a Linksys WRT54G router. I just upgraded my Messenger to v8.x but the problem existed on the previous version as well.
I’ve configured port forwarding on my router to all of the required ports, I’ve added an exception to my Windows Firewall to allow incoming connections on port 5100. I’ve also read that my firewall needs to be configured to allow outgoing requests via port 5100, but I don’t know how to configure that.
Anyway, I think I’ve done everything that I can think of except configure the outgoing port on my firewall, but I’m still unable to view webcams. By the way, this is only a problem with Yahoo!, MSN Messenger works fine.
Does anybody have any suggestions to get this working?
