Whenever I call one of my friends on google talk, it will work for a few minutes, and then the person on the other end will hear all sorts of static from my microphone. My microphone is built into my webcam so I don’t use a different microphone. Is this something wrong with google talk or is it something wrong with my microphone/webcam?
February 15, 2006 at 12:58 am #138280SpikeMemberI would say if they complain of static that it’s your webcam. Most builtin microphones on webcams are junk. I’d suggest a desktop microphone or a headset from a reputable company such as Logitech.

The drivers won’t do much, but it’s a possibility.I have a logitech webcam, too, doesn’t mean it’s good. 😉 What I was trying to say is that if you want something with a little better quality, you’d better be willing to shell out the cash for something a little more expensive. A cheap QuickCam won’t cut it for voice or video if you’re looking for quality, sorry.
Curiously, what webcam from them do you have?

Oh yea, and it’s not so much static, as it will be working fine for about five minutes, and then all of a sudden it just starts sending random loud static-like noises to the other person. It does this when i try to take videos of anything too. Its almost like the microphone just stops working and experiences interference or something.

The headset if your intertested is a Motorola HS850, its very worth it, if your willing to pay for it.
Tim.
